"The Tribune served as my home base in Rome over a 2-week period. I stayed here for a total of 5 nights, checking in and out 3 times while traveling to other parts of Europe. I am grateful to the hotel for storing my luggage during my travels elsewhere. Each time I returned, the hotel had my luggage ready for delivery to my room. During my third stay, there was a mix-up and the wrong luggages were delivered to my room. After a call to the front desk, the issue was quickly resolved and I was reunited with my luggage.
Pros: fantastic location, kind & courteous staff; lovely breakfast, with the option to choose from the a la carte menu in addition to the buffet; I smiled every time I saw the “Tribune” artwork on top of my morning cappuccino; the rooms are comfortable and Hyatt globalists are rewarded with upgrades when available. I got upgraded for 2 of my 3 stays. Plus, the in-room mini bar had a very nice selection of complimentary beverages.
Cons: extremely slow and small elevator; other than when I had my luggage, I used the stairs during the entirety of my stays but this could be problematic for people with mobility issues; the hotel had environmentally-friendly full size containers of body wash/shampoo/conditioner, but there was always at least one container with a faulty pump; during my first stay, the body wash in the shower was really watered down and sprayed out of the bottle like Windex (felt like it had been diluted with mostly water), which made me feel icky and I ended up using the hand soap from the sink instead of the body wash; during my other stays, the pump on the lotion containers fell off; also, I asked for an iron and ironing board, and a dirty iron with leftover water was delivered. I ended up not using it because I didn’t want my clothes to get stained from the dirty iron, which has happened to me before from dirty hotel irons.
Note for light sleepers: rooms facing Via Campania will get noise from Corso d’Italia at all hours, so request a room facing the back if you want peace & quiet.
Do take advantage of the hotel’s proximity to Villa Borghese and walk through this beautiful park during early morning/evening hours. You’ll see locals walking their dogs and experience serenity in the midst of enchanting Rome."
