"Myself and my mum stayed here for 5 nights as a little get away and to be honest we were quite disappointed. We booked a half-board stay and, unfortunately, our experience fell significantly below the standard we expected from the hotel as a 4 star.
On our first night, we did not arrive at the hotel until after midnight due to issues with our flight. We were then not shown or escorted to our room and were instead left to find it ourselves in the dark. After a long and difficult journey, this was not the welcome we expected from a hotel particularly when this was quite difficult due to the hotel being surrounded in cobblestones and very poorly lit making it extremely difficult for you to see where you are going. My mum also tripped over due to this a number of times throughout the holiday.
Throughout our entire stay, we also experienced repeated issues with the room and basic amenities:
There was no shower gel provided at any point during our five-night stay, despite this being reported to hotel staff.
We were only provided with hand wash, shampoo and conditioner.
We were not provided with a bottle of water on our first night and had to request this from reception where we were also advised that water is not provided throughout the entirety of our stay and this would have to be paid for. This is something I have never ever experienced from a hotel and have always been able to access free water throughout my stay.
Our room was also not cleaned as expected, and we had to contact reception to request that it be cleaned.
The tea and coffee facilities in the room were never replenished during our stay.
Dirty cups were left in the room and were not replaced or cleaned on a daily basis.
These are basic elements of hotel housekeeping and guest service, and it was extremely frustrating to have to repeatedly ask staff for things that should have been provided as standard.
The experience on our day of departure was also particularly disappointing. As we were staying on a half-board basis, we were under the impression that we would be able to have lunch at the hotel on the day of check-out. When we asked about this, we were told that this was not included and, more concerningly, that after check-out we should essentially “leave the hotel premises”, although we were permitted to remain while waiting for our transfer.
We fully appreciate that there are check-out policies and that our room entitlement ended at the specified time. However, the way this was communicated to us made us feel extremely unwelcome and uncomfortable. After everything we had already experienced during our stay, being made to feel as though we were no longer welcome on the hotel premises was particularly disappointing. In previous hotels I have stayed in, even after check out, you are still able to use all facilities and eat at the restaurants with staff usually making us food to take to the airport! This was therefore a completely different experience.
Having visited Ibiza many times, we have never previously felt this unwelcome at a hotel on the island. We have always found the island to offer a warm, friendly and hospitable experience, which is one of the reasons we continue to return. Sadly, our experience at FERGUS Punta Arabi was completely at odds with this, and it has left a very negative impression of what should have been an enjoyable holiday.
Whilst in reception waiting for our transfer, there was also a number of other families complaining of similar experiences, one family even complained of mould in their room and moved to a completely different hotel!
Overall I would not rate this 4 star and definitely would not be returning."
