Talayot

"I've had a week at the Talayot and it has been a lovely experience, exactly what I needed, it's a very peaceful hotel. I've slept excellently (I have sleep apnoea, and I've really not slept better for a long time), I should have checked the make of the pillow and mattress before I left. The room was kept brilliantly clean by the staff, with the option to skip a day or two if you wish. The rooms come equipped with a telly, which although can offer around four channels in English, they're all the news, the only entertainment channels are in Spanish/other european languages. You can, however, cast, from your phone/tablet, so I was able to watch anything on the Youtube and also Amazon Prime, I expect other international subscription channels would work too. The food has been great all week, plenty to choose from all week, a mixture of global cuisine and recognisable favourites. A full english line up at breakfast along with cereals breads fruit and whatnot, a great lunch, a snack period including burgers and pizza etc, and then a full evening meal. I'm not on a restricted diet, and I'm an adventurous eater when I know what I'm having, but the placement of dish titles was a bit hit and miss, I'm sure if one cared, questions would be answered, but I can imagine one could find that tiresome day after day if it were necessary. I didn't venture into the pools, they didn't look big enough/deep enough for a proper swim, merely a place to cool off between sun sessions. And I didn't use the spa. I had no trouble finding a spot to sit or lie in the sun, when the mood took me. The solarium area on the 1st floor fills up quickly, but spots did seem to become available during the day, and the main area by the outside pool always had plenty of spots, even on Saturday/Sunday. One or two guests played a bit fast and loose with leaving towels and disappearing for a while, but the majority of folk were very good at freeing up loungers when not in use. I did however make use of the laundry service, which was excellent, good value, and fast, I had a few shirts done, and they were returned within hours. Awesome stuff. All the staff are working hard, and I rarely had to wait long to order up a drink, or make an enuiry at reception. There are musical turns on four nights a week, during my stay they all seemed to be singers, occasionally accompanied, and sang the similar kinds of stuff, if you like your karaoke bangers, you'll not be disappointed. And I couldn't hear it from my room on the 3rd floor, so when I toddled off for an early night, it was not a disturbance. There are two things that I think worth noting, and I'm not sure what the solution is, these are observations rather than complaints. The corridors, much like Majorca get quite hot, so it can be a sudden transition from a lovely cool room (I got mine down to 18C, I'm northern). And the lifts seem to operate at random, maybe they'll come quickly, maybe they won't, maybe they'll take you straight to where you want to go, maybe they'll take you on a tour of the floors, maybe the button will light up to let you know the lift is coming, maybe it won't. I think If I'd stayed more than a week, I would have become frustrated at my inability to work out any sense of pattern. I would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting a nice relaxed time."

"First time ever writing a review on anything. Have stayed in numerous hotels in this location and this hotel is by far the worst . Only good thing about it is the location. Poor selection of food and generally cold. Staff very unhelpful . Bus dropped us off at the start of calla bona mid day as we are in our 70s not the best start to our holiday walking30mins with our suitcases however the jet 2 rep told us it was just a driver error and brushed it aside. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone avoid at all cost."

"Stayed here Aug 26 for a long weekend with my wife. Great hotel in a great location. Almost in Cala Bona but close enough to the action in Cala Malore. Had a junior suite which really was excellent. Very well appointed room, massive comfy bed kept lovely throughout our stay by housekeeping. Food is decent without being anything to write home about - catering for just about every taste. Gluten free options available although our son wasnt with us so I dont know exactly what. Nice pool area with a decent shaded bar - look out for Alvaro behind the bar, he's a good guy. Buy him a drink from me. Will certainly be going back, probably for longer next time."
