"Honestly, after reading the reviews before coming to EVITA Resort in Faliraki, we arrived feeling excited and hopeful that we were going to have an amazing holiday. How wrong we were! I genuinely cannot understand how this hotel is classed as 4-star. At an absolute push, I would give it 3 stars, and even that feels generous.
I can only assume some of the people leaving glowing reviews have very different expectations of what a 4-star hotel should be, because this certainly isn’t what we expected. If you think this is a fantastic 4-star resort, I would honestly encourage you to try staying in a few other hotels and see the difference for yourself.
FIRST NIGHT – NO HELP WHATSOEVER
From the moment we arrived, things got off to a poor start. We checked in and were left to find our own room, with absolutely no assistance or guidance. This is a massive complex with hundreds of rooms, and it was pitch black outside. Surely, in a resort of this size, someone could at least point you in the right direction? Not the end of the world, but certainly not the welcome you would expect.
THE RESTAURANT – ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS
The restaurant area is ridiculously small for a hotel accommodating this many guests. With hundreds of rooms and potentially over 1,000 people staying here, the space is completely inadequate.
It is so cramped that you can barely move between the tables and chairs, never mind comfortably get in and out while other people are eating. It feels chaotic, overcrowded and poorly designed.
And here’s another issue: you can get yourself a drink, leave it on a table and go to collect your food, only to come back and find your drink has been cleared and someone else has taken your table. You cannot even feel confident that you will have somewhere to sit while getting your dinner!
The atmosphere is stressful rather than relaxing, and unfortunately, some guests’ lack of consideration for the people around them only makes the experience worse.
AND THE FOOD? DON’T GET ME STARTED!
The food selection is poor, the food itself is bland, and there is very little variety. So much of it tastes the same that you quickly get bored of eating it. We expected far more choice and a much better standard from somewhere advertised as a 4-star resort.
A holiday is supposed to be about relaxing, enjoying yourself and looking forward to your meals, not struggling to find something decent to eat in an overcrowded restaurant.
THE ENTERTAINMENT – POINTLESS IF NOBODY CAN SEE IT!
The entertainment area is another example of how poorly thought out the facilities are. Everything is crammed into one area facing a tiny stage that isn’t even properly raised. If you are sitting further back, you already have very little chance of seeing anything.
We waited until 10 pm to watch the magic and fire show, which was looking promising. But the moment it started, everyone suddenly stood up and rushed to the front with their phones held high in the air, completely blocking the view for everyone behind them.
And what did the staff do about it? Absolutely nothing!
Nobody seemed interested in managing the crowd or ensuring everyone had a fair chance of watching the show. We had waited all evening, only for the vast majority of people behind the crowd to be unable to see anything properly.
What is the point of putting on entertainment if the setup is inadequate and nobody is managing the situation? A properly raised stage and a bit of crowd control would make a huge difference.
TOO MANY GUESTS, NOT ENOUGH SPACE
This is the biggest issue with EVITA Resort. The main facilities simply do not seem fit for the number of guests the hotel accommodates. The restaurant is too small, the entertainment area is too small, and the whole experience feels overcrowded.
It genuinely feels as though fitting as many guests into the resort as possible has taken priority over making sure those guests can actually enjoy their holiday.
You can have hundreds of rooms, but what is the point if the facilities cannot comfortably accommodate the people staying in them?
THE ONLY REAL POSITIVE
To give credit where it is due, the staff we have encountered have been lovely and attentive. They deserve recognition, and this review is not a personal attack on them.
However, lovely staff cannot make up for facilities that are clearly struggling to cope with the number of guests, disappointing food and an entertainment setup that leaves people unable to see the shows.
FINAL VERDICT – WE WOULD NOT COME BACK
We booked this holiday with high expectations because of the reviews we had read, and unfortunately, the reality has been a massive let-down.
I appreciate that everyone has different standards and expectations, and I am genuinely pleased for those who have enjoyed their stay. However, I cannot understand how this resort receives such glowing reviews or how it justifies a 4-star rating based on our experience.
If you are used to staying in good-quality 4-star hotels, please do your research and manage your expectations before booking. Do not assume that the star rating means you will receive the standard of facilities, food and comfort you would normally associate with a 4-star resort.
For us, this has been a disappointing experience, and we would not return.
EVITA Resort: lovely staff, but the facilities, food and overall guest experience fall well short of what we expected from a 4-star hotel."
