"We booked this only a week or so in advance as a last minute getaway and we were not at all disappointed with what we got, This is a brilliantly well kept hotel for the price that you pay. The room had a modern feel, simple but just what was required and had a balcony with chairs that looked over towards Skiathos Port, an absolutely amazing view day and night, and really an added bonus to this hotel. The room was cleaned and refreshed each day to a high standard with fresh, spotless sheets and towels upon request. Everywhere around the hotel was kept to a high standard throughout, we had no issues at all!
The atmosphere around the pool and communal areas is relaxed and inviting with a super little bar to one end serving drinks and lunchtime snacks. Staff are attentive, friendly and helpful, with a good sense of humour! One future recommendation would be to just add more variation to the playlist, and afternoon relaxing will feature repeats a little too frequently.
In regard to the shuttle offered by the hotel, I had read some reviews that were negative about the shuttle bus provided by the hotel into the port, however I found the absolute opposite and thought it was great that the hotel put this on with it being a little further out (a whole 7 minutes by taxi)! On no occasion on our trip were we unable to access seats on the bus when we wanted to. However, we were flexible and had accounted that on occasion our times of wanting to be in the town wouldn’t match up. On these occasions the staff could not be more helpful in booking taxis (€12 into town, €10 back). We really didn’t find this an issue and in fact on those occasions we did use the shuttle it was simply a bonus! As said, the hotel is a little out of town, it is walkable, but when you see the hill you won’t want to! Really not a problem, due to the staff being as helpful and on it as they are.
The hotel beach is a short walk away, not right on the doorstep, but no longer than 10 minutes for anyone (more like 5 really). It goes down a steep descent to the beach (the hotel sits atop the hill giving its exceptional views). At the bottom you’ll find a small but seemingly private beach used only by hotel guests and the occasional small boat that has paid a visit. It’s basic but relaxing. We used it to relax, swim and snorkel around some of the rocks and cliff edges that border it. If you want a resort style beach, travel elsewhere, get a water taxi from the town - we did both, enjoyed them for different reasons.
We had booked for B&B style as we had wanted to utilise the town for evening meals. Breakfast each morning was you standard continental style breakfast. Everything you could want and more. All tasty. We did use the hotel restaurant one evening. They do a buffet style menu which might not be for everyone’s taste. It was fine for what we needed on that evening, but there wasn’t a sense of occasion and speciality that you get when going to a taverna for food. But, having said that it was €22 per person, main with lots of sides, desert and drink included, so what do you expect? If you want more, go out and pay for more I suppose, that’s what we did and it worked for us.
Overall, we had a super stay, would like to thank for staff for being as welcoming and helpful (especially those on reception and bar who booked us taxis and kept the drinks flowing). There is no doubt that this hotel is exceptional value for money."
