"Here's the good news about Palazzo Navona. It's a great location. The rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. The breakfast offered in the morning had a full set of options. If not for the construction noise waking us up with a HORRID screeching of metal on cement etc. at 6:45am with construction noise that continued for a while, I would have recommended it. More than that, I notified the hotel in the morning of the disturbance...and they did nothing. When I wrote to the hotel manager + their sales / revenue manager + their customer service contacts we got absolutely no response. That is completely unacceptable.
I understand that construction can and will happen, particularly in major cities. I'm from New York City so I understand city noise etc. This was a totally different thing. The construction site is literally right next to the hotel so they must be aware of it - and while technically the workers weren't supposed to start work before 8am, the hotel has an obligation to a) warn potential guests prior to booking and/or b) have something in place to address an issue should it arise.
Our daughters' room did not face the same way our room did, so it should be noted that they were not rudely disturbed as my husband and I were - so future travelers could book the hotel after ensuring they were not on the line with room 307.
When our travel agent inquired on our behalf, she was told that the hotel felt there was "nothing they could do because work wasn't supposed to start before 8am" but that they offered us a drink at their rooftop bar. That is categorically false. We were never offered anything...and in fact, when my husband and I tried to get a drink at the (lovely) rooftop bar at 11:05 thinking the sign posted in the elevator with an 11:30pm close time was accurate, we were told that 'last call was at 11pm'. So, nothing for us. As a result, our travel agent cancelled other client bookings because of their unacceptable response. We paid a lot of money for a good night's sleep and Palazzo Navona simply did not deliver.
As a seasoned traveller, I understand that things don't always go well. What is important is how someone / how an organization responds to issues and in the case of Palazzo Navona, they did TERRIBLY. They handled this so poorly, I simply cannot recommend them. And if you decide to try your luck because otherwise, the hotel would be a good choice...just make sure you are on a different side of the building from room 307."
