"Like many people, we read the negative reviews and arrived at the hotel expecting it to be awful, but we were really impressed by it, especially for the price. There are a few friction points, but you can avoid some of them-
Pools/Terraces not opening until 10am- this is frustrating and people do start queuing at 9am to get the best spots, but you can choose to not go down until it opens and you'll still be able to find loungers. There's also the roof top terrace that is always open, so you can sit there to start with. The 10am opening isn't unique to this hotel, it's common practice in mainland Spain, but I don't think it's helpful when you're there with young kids who would like to play earlier.
Drinks tokens/bar queues- it's true that you need a drinks card to order at the bar and you only get one card each, but over time we managed to accumulate extra cards. Most drinks (including cocktails) are on tap, so although the queues can get long at peak times, they move very quickly. You can also time it to go to the bar when the queue is shorter. You don't need drinks tokens in the restaurant, so you can get drinks freely during mealtimes. The all inclusive drinks were of very high quality.
Reception- it is understaffed and large queues can form at check-in, especially in the mornings. We arrived at 2pm and didn't have to queue.
Splash Park- our kids, aged 4 and 6, absolutely loved this and never got bored. The Splash Park very much caters to children of all ages; there's a separate paddling pool aimed at babies and pre-schoolers, with very shallow water and mini slides, then another pool with a slightly bigger slide and fountain which I would say suits 4 to 8 year olds. There's then a section with waterslides for older children and adults; in addition to this, there is a regular swimming pool on the opposite side of the complex, and an adult recommended pool on the roof terrace, though there are always children in it. In addition to the splash park, there's a play area with a climbing frame, swings, and slides. The complex feels safe and is a nice size for kids to be able to roam freely, without getting lost.
The restaurant- we always managed to secure a table of 6 and never had to queue. Yes, you will see pizza, chips, salad, and pasta on the buffet every day; they need to do that to cater for children and fussy eaters, but aside from that there was plenty of variation, and the food was tasty and high quality.
The kids club- our boys really enjoyed this and went a few times whilst we were there. There's a theme each day, such as pirates, or superheroes, which they found really engaging. The club runs daily between 10:30am and 1pm and then 4:30pm to 6:30pm. The staff that run this are great with the kids!
The rooms- ours was very clean and spacious; the air-con worked fine and it's quiet enough to leave on all night. You do sometimes hear inconsiderate people talking and slamming doors in the night, but you do in all hotels.
Evening entertainment- each evening from around 7:30pm there's a kids karaoke, following by a mini-disco; both of our kids enjoyed dancing to the music. The entertainment for adults was a bit lack-lustre at times, but fine for the price point. The room does fill up quite quickly, so you need to get seats by around 8pm. There are toy vending machines, computer games, a pool table, and a ping pong table available on site.
In conclusion, we would definitely recommend this hotel to families with young children; it has far surpassed our expectations and everyone has had a good time. The hotel is clean and modern, plus it's only a 40 minute taxi journey from Girona airport, which is convenient. The only reason we would go somewhere else next time is because the local beach is very pebbly, so it was painful on our feet, and the kids couldn't make sandcastles. It was also difficult to get into the water, as there was quite a drop. This aside, there's more than enough to do to keep everyone entertained in the hotel."
