Arguineguín Park by Servatur

"We have just returned from 1 week at Arguineguin Park. The apartments and resort grounds are lovely, very clean and well maintained. The room(s) have everything you'd need for a self catering break. Possibly one of the nicest resorts we've stayed whilst abroad! The location, as others have mentioned, is a bit out of the way. It's a good 10 minute walk to reach town and whilst this isn't a long trek, it can feel it when it is very hot and the sun is beating down on you. It is also worth noting there are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the apartments and if you're looking to eat out for most of your meals - it can be a little tiresome having to go back and forth. There's not masses to do in Arguineguin, it is nice and quiet and the beaches nearby look lovely. There is a market on Tuesday, so it's worth walking into town on this day. Buses do leave from the end of the road very frequently. We went to Puerto Rico of which we weren't keen on, and also Puerto De Mogan which was beautiful (although avoid going on a Friday if you're like us and hate busy/crowded places - it is market day and it gets hectic). We have a few negatives that lose 1 star for us and these are: - No evening entertainment (we knew this before going, so not a negative as such but we did end up wishing there was something to do in the evenings). - The sunbed wars. Whilst we didn't participate and watched the lunacy unfold from our balcony each morning, it is disappointing to not be able to get a sunbed or even get close to the pool all holiday because people run down and across the resort (literally!!) at the crack of dawn to throw a towel down... and worst yet, not return for hours and hours to even use the beds. There are signs saying no reserving sunbeds but this is not enforced at all. Perhaps more sunbeds is the answer if they can't enforce the no reservation rule. - The pool is way too small for the amount of people wanting to use it. I did use the pool a few times but it was absolutely jam packed. You can't really swim or move about too much. I think a second larger pool would be beneficial to the resort and the guests. There is an adult only infinity pool, we didn't use this as again, all the sunbeds were taken and the pool was smaller than expected, so also full. - The pool bar snacks were really disappointing. We had a burger midweek which was nice however we then had a pizza for tea one night that was pretty horrible. Before departure yesterday, we had a burger again with some chicken strips which unfortunately arrived raw/uncooked. They did cook the chicken strips through a bit more (although sent them back on the same plate the raw ones had been on) and remade the burgers after seeing the blood leaking onto the plate but it was pretty off putting. Nice and helpful staff, but a mistake that shouldn't have happened. - Late checkout not being an option. On arrival, we expressed to the receptionist that our return flight was not until late and if possible, could we arrange for a late checkout. We were told they wouldn't know until the day of our departure and to come back then. I was already pretty certain based on this response that it was a no but I went back to ask anyway. I was then told the hotel was now fully booked and late checkout was not an option... frustrating given we had requested this a whole week earlier. It could therefore be nice to have a room/space with some amenities in for guests who have late flights, where late checkout is not an option. There's no where to go whilst you wait for your transfer and so we were just sat for 7 hours at the pool bar. Although I've pointed out a few things that were negatives for us as a family, overall, we did have a nice stay and the apartments are great. We wouldn't return but only because I think there are a few things that are missing that for us, we really enjoy whilst away. With that said, if you're looking for lovely self catering apartments in a quiet location to just relax and enjoy some sun, I'd recommend the Arguineguin Park Resort."

"Hotel is immaculate, although very limited for the children, foods ok in the bar area and the Spar is great. Staff fantastic, and the hotel as you can imagine is very quiet and peaceful. I probably wouldnt visit again with the children but would consider going with my partner for a short break in the future as we did all have a good time. If you have children and want a bit more entertainment I would recommend the Servatur Puerto Azul which is about 15 minutes away in Puerto Rico. Location is OK although I wasnt keen on any of the beaches in Arguineguin and much preffered the ones down the road in Anfi and Puerto Rico, which are both great days out. The sunbed situation is poor, we only used to get 2 beds between the 5 of us and you find that by 11:30am the pool area is very quiet yet every single bed is taken with a towel and nobody with them, with people even turning up at 3-4pm and expecting their beds to still be reserved. Not the British at fault for once either ;)"

"We have just returned from 10 days stay. The apartment was fantastic, the air con great and place kept immaculate. The complex is a 10 min walk into the town and short taxi ride from Puerto Rico so location was great. The major downside for us was the sunbed situation. Towels were put down early on in morning and all reserved by 10am. Some groups would leave early in morning and not return for several hours. The lifeguard did a bit of policing of this but from what we experienced would favour Spanish guest over others and would not enforce the pool rules for certain guests. The frustration for us was there was plenty of room for other sun beds. It really ruined the holiday for us. It's such a shame, as the place has so many positives but the lack of sun beds really spoiled the experience."
