HSM Lago Park

"5 minutes walk to Playa de Muro beach. Surrounded by shops and restaurants. Bus stops at either side of the hotel (5mins walk). 30 minutes walk to Alcudia beach 1 hour walk to the Harbour 1 hour 15mins walk to Alcudia old town Split in two with reception, bar, restaurant and pool on one side (building 1) and pool and gym on the other (building 2). First impression, very welcoming, very very clean and inviting entrance in the hotel. Not too much information was shared apart from a basic guide to our room when we arrived but it was very late. The day staff are awesome and are more than happy to help with your needs. Bar cocktails are nice too. Rooms are quite basic, the finishing is questionable, the door handles rusted pitted, holes in ceiling next to smoke alarm, misaligned panelling, old cupboards and wardrobes that barely closed and rusting fridge door. AC is OK not extremely effective but suitable. The controls are from the 60s though. Kitchenette has everything you need. Beds clean and fairly comfortable but bedding was only changed once during a 10 night stay. Towels replaced every other day or on request. Balcony is a good size but there’s no handle on the outside of the door and there’s a wide range of unusual smells throughout the day. Mainly a weird petrol smell. The shower is great but only at certain times. If you hit the showers at peak time you’ll find slightly low pressure and fluctuating temperatures. Other than that the shower is great and extremely powerful. There are two pools separated by the buildings. Pool 1 has all that you need. We were in building 2 which had a pool and it doesn’t have a bar/restaurant/DJ area but, if you ask the lifeguard they will signal for any food or beverage options and the staff from the bar are happy to bring your choices. We never had a problem getting sun beds. Gym is in building 2 next to the pool area and has some equipment. Between the buildings is a shop play area and another bar which opens later. We had the brunch option and this allows for breakfast and lunch. 08:00 til 13:30 The breakfast is basic and has minimal changes throughout as does the lunch. It massively helps if you’re on a budget and I believe it offers good value, it’s not the best at won’t have you screaming on the rooftops but is satisfactory for the price. Never chaotic with plenty of seating too. Never had a problem getting a subbed. The whole place isn’t that relaxing though. There’s a constant noise. The pool in building 2 is next to the neighbouring service area. There’s vehicles and crashing and banging all of the time. We used this place because it was a reasonable price that offered the option to have breakfast and lunch. It is in a fantastic location next to most things and if you’re able to walk I’d suggest walking along the beach to Alcudia port. I’m really unhappy with the state of some of the local areas, with litter and general tiredness. There a lot of tourism throughout but it seems that the tax has been left to budget elsewhere rather than where is required."

"Just got back from a weeks stay with family two children 10+ , got there about 11.30am and couldn’t check into room till 2pm but they offered complimentary drinks and use of facilities and room to store our luggage! Once we checked into room it was very clean little dated but it’s a 3 star so didn’t bother us we had fresh towels nearly everyday and bin emptied my only negative they never changed our bedding the whole week we was there! We had air con wasn’t the best but did keep us cool and if we opened patio doors it stopped so had to make sure it was closed if sat outside, again it wasn’t a problem! The room was spacious kitchen area had what you needed just abit small but again didn’t bother us the bedroom was spacious too with plenty of space to store clothes and the beds was very comfy and pull out bed in lounge, there is no evening entertainment at this hotel! The hotel staff are extremely polite the bar staff are entertaining always smiling singing etc and the food is so tasty especially the pizzas! they are such lovely people and also send out little complimentary shots through day for adults I’m sure I was a little tipsy one afternoon! the pool area isn’t massive but clean and always got a sunbed there was dj playing music outside can be loud but we enjoyed the music, staff was always wondering around cleaning up glasses or waste! We could also use the other hotel which had a pool and was a lot quieter which my boys absolutely loved so spent more time there! there’s a gym, washer and dryer too €4 wash, €3 dry there was always lifeguards around the pool and are very polite and good with the little children! There was a kids club too but we didn’t really pay much attention as mine are too old for that! other than one day they was playing games in the pool on afternoons with the kids! My husband said he would return but I’d rather try a different hotel overall it’s a great location I wouldn’t say it’s beachfront as you have to walk about 10minutes going across a busy road and pass a row of restaurants and shops! Shoos and restaurants plenty to choose from we absolutely loved the swan inn home from home food very tasty best we had tasted they have everything from British traditional to burgers, pizzas, nuggets pasta and lots more my son loved their crepes with Nutella"

"We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of June into start of July as a family of 4, kids aged 8 and 10. Premium apartment - everything you could possibly need. Modern and clean. Excellent air con (not noisy). Best shower we’ve ever had abroad. Clean towels every day and room was cleaned every day except for Wednesday and Saturday. Excellent brunch with a wide variety of foods, coffee and drinks. Kids loved this and set us up for the day. Cocktails were top class, mango mojito was our favourite. €11 for this cocktails and worth it. Food at the snack bar was delicious and reasonably priced. Pool area was perfect, no stress, relaxed environment and no crowds looking for sun beds. We were able to get a sunbed at different times in the day with no issues. Perfect location, 3 minutes to the most beautiful beach where you can rent sun loungers for the day. Also boat trips and water sport available here. Many supermarkets nearby for snacks or groceries if you want to cook. We didn’t cook here as ate out each evening. We tried 5 different restaurants and enjoyed every meal. Playa Muro is a busy wee town with lots of souvenir stores and shops. Fabulous Irish bar across the road called Posh Paddies which had live music Friday and Tuesday night which was great. I read other comments about a noisy bar - this was only noisey for the World Cup matches and rightly so - people are out enjoying their time supporting their country. Other than the matches, no noise at all. We went to Alcudia Old Town one evening - €10 in a taxi - well worth the visit. Beautiful place. Also went to Hidropark for a day. Great waterpark for the kids ages. Overall I rate this apartment highly. Brilliant location, amenities and town. The staff in HSM Lago were fantastic - we will definitely be back again."
