"Having read some of the awful reviews on here recently about this being a Sardinian Fawlty Towers and a Health & Safety nightmare, I was very hesitant about our stay but it was too late to change/cancel our hotel so off we went. I needn't have worried. If you are used to 5* all inclusive luxury and go expecting that then yes you will be disappointed. However if you are looking for a lovely relaxing break with gorgeous weather, pretty surroundings, decent food and a good night's sleep then this might just be the place for you.
Yes the rooms are dated with a quaint rustic vibe to them, but they are very clean, the water pressure in the shower is good with plenty of hot water, and the beds are firm but comfortable. There is a kettle and a plentiful supply of bottled water. Power sockets aren't in abundance, we had anticipated this and taken an extension lead with us but actually didn't need it in the end. On request, the hotel immediately provided us with two extra pillows, and an additional Sardian extension cable so we could both charge our phones/gadgets from our bedside tables. Lots of hangers in the wardrobe and a lovely terrace to sit on with your G&T. We arrived late at night, around 10.30pm, were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist and still had time for a quick drink at the bar before retiring to our room, where the hotel had left us some food. I have limited mobility and our room was ideally located, just steps from the restaurant, beach and the swimming pool area.
We went for a true "fly & flop" holiday and the pool area is lovely, with plenty of beds available. The pool is easy to enter via some steps and slopes very gradually so you can enter at your own pace. One of the things we loved was the extended amount of time you got the sun around the pool, right from 9am in the morning through to 7pm in the evening. Probably the best and longest 'golden hour' I have ever experienced.
Yes, the food is basic with a limited variety at the hot buffet but there are a good selection of cold/salad options too. I am a very fussy eater and always managed to find something to sate my appetite, the lasagne on our last evening was fabulous. Special mention to the ice cream too which was really delicious. Your table is allocated to you at your first visit to the restaurant which you keep for the duration and this actually worked very well as no matter what time you arrived, your table was always available. All staff we encountered were friendly and courteous and we felt very welcomed.
Probably the only real downsides I can mention is that there are no toilet facilities around the pool, however we were only a short distance from our room so wasn't a huge problem for us. All in all a very pleasant break if you go with realistic expectations. It's probably more of a 3 star than a 4 star but it's got everything you could want for a relaxing break. If you like to venture out then the hotel is very isolated and you would need to hire a car but we only go to have a break and catch some sun so not a problem for us. The transfer from Olbia Airport is only about 30 mins from and our private transfers were luxurious Mercedes Minivans.
We would definitely return, and really the only disappointment for us is that in March/April when we usually schedule our short getaways the weather in Sardinia wouldn't be warm enough for a sunbathing break. Oh well, looks like another break needed in June then. Thank you Marina Seada Beach, we will be back!"
