Dunamar Hotel Apartamentos

"An experience I don't intend to repeat Unfortunately, our experience at Hotel Apartamento Dunamar was quite below expectations. One of the aspects that we disliked the most was the SPA. The water was cold, something I find difficult to understand in a space that presents itself as a SPA and wellness center. When we called attention to the situation, we were told, in a rather careless way, that "the water has been a little cold." I have stayed in several hotels with SPAs and have never encountered a similar situation. More than the water temperature itself, I expected a different attitude towards a guest's complaint. Another very negative point was the service at the bar/restaurant for lunch. On several occasions we had waiting times exceeding an hour to get lunch. It didn't happen just once. The situation repeated itself to the point that we ended up giving up and opting to leave the hotel to have lunch in other places. At reception, the waiting times were also too long. It is perfectly understandable that the hotel is at high occupancy in the middle of August. However, it was equally evident that the number of available staff did not seem sufficient to respond to the number of guests. A hotel must be prepared, in terms of human resources, for periods when it is predictably at its highest occupancy. The only truly positive aspect I take from the stay is the excellent location and proximity to the beach, which is undoubtedly a big advantage. It's a shame because a hotel with this location and potential could provide a much better experience. In our case, considering the set of situations we experienced and the relationship between the service provided and what we expected from the hotel, the experience was quite disappointing. It is not an experience I intend to repeat and, based on our stay, I would also not recommend the Hotel Apartamento Dunamar."

"Just returned from a lovely holiday here. Rooms were great, cleaned everyday. Pool bar staff were lovely and friendly and the food was good. They have a no reserve sun bed policy but I wouldn’t say they were that strict on that as noted a few who put towels on bed and went to the beach. The only negative I would say is that they do not allow anything in the pool, no balls which a lot of the kids including my boys like to play volleyball and no inflatables for the young ones. At times kids were playing catch and volleyball and were told off, yet they were not obstructing anyone in the pool. Just seems very strict for a family hotel."

"I’m really surprised at the amount of bad reviews for this hotel! We had a lovely stay. Yes, the bathrooms and kitchens are a bit dated but the whole apartment was spotless. The beds were comfy and the view was amazing. We found it to be very quiet so I can’t understand the noise complaints. There was a bit of noise from kids playing in the pool during the day but that’s to be expected. The hotel is in a great location, the beach, bars and restaurants are in easy walking distance. Most of the members of staff were very friendly and helpful, from reception to cleaners, maintenance and the staff behind the bar in the evening, all were lovely. The food and waiters at the pool bar were great too, however there was an issue with the ladies working at the pool bar and they are the reason this is a four star review instead of a five. They were beyond obnoxious. They’d serve you as and when they felt like it and just ignore you until then. If there was someone Portuguese at the back of the queue, they’d serve them first whilst still ignoring everyone else. They argued, loudly, with each other and slammed the doors to the kitchen repeatedly. One of the waiters tried to help out and promptly got screamed at. They were awful and I’m surprised they’re allowed to get away with such behaviour. Despite that, we still really enjoyed our stay and hope to return next year."
