Stay Hotel Porto Centro Trindade

"I will start with the positives. The hotel is ideally situated for the Trindade metro station to return to Porto airport and it is also at the start of Santa Catarina Street, which is the main shopping area. The hotel is basic but clean. The negatives are you can't check in until 4 pm although they did store our luggage. There is no safe in the room,no water glasses, no bottle of water,we had to buy a small bottle from them at 1.60 euro. There was only one pillow per bed although the bed was comfortable. There was a kettle in the room but only 2 teabags and 2 coffee sachets, no milk or sugar and only 2 paper cups. There was a crack in the shower tray, only 2 small shower gel/ shampoo. The wardrobe was very small, the walls had chipped paint , the hotel overlooks a busy 'urban' street with traffic noise. We had booked room only but we were not given a breakfast option on arrival, the staff seemed very disinterested."

"The hotel as a whole was clean, but we found several poorly maintained aspects that penalized the stay. The room was spacious and functional, but the bathroom had several maintenance problems. As soon as we arrived, the shower drain was completely clogged. The problem was solved by the staff, which we appreciated, but to do so the drain plug was removed, which was then never put back on. This also caused a slight bad odor in the bathroom. There were also some small problems that, taken individually, might seem negligible, but which overall highlight a certain lack of attention: the toilet paper holder was loose and the paper kept falling on the floor; the shower head holder was also loose and therefore, to use it, we were forced to hold it in our hand. Furthermore, the holder in the shower for resting body wash or shampoo was broken and therefore unusable. After reporting the drain problem, for which the staff proved efficient in solving the issue, we nevertheless had the feeling of a certain coldness and a lack of attention to detail. For this reason, we preferred not to report the other small bathroom issues as well, to avoid having further requests seem like a bother. It is a shame, because a more careful check of the rooms or a little more empathy from the reception staff would have been enough to make the stay much more pleasant. Breakfast deserves a separate mention. We had reported in advance, both through Booking and directly to the hotel, the need for gluten-free products and had received assurances in this regard. The request was also expressly reminded at the time of check-in, so there would have been plenty of time to organize. Instead, we were simply told by the reception that the hotel did not have a gluten-free breakfast. In the end, my wife had to get gluten-free bread herself. Despite this, thanks to our experience in managing these types of needs, we still managed to identify some things she could eat and, somehow, we had breakfast. The problem, therefore, was not so much the impossibility of eating, but the lack of attention to a request communicated multiple times and well in advance, especially considering that the breakfast had been regularly paid for. During a vacation, it would also have been nice to find some gluten-free products that were a bit more refined and fancy, not necessarily a complete assortment, but something that would allow us to experience breakfast as a normal moment of pleasure. Among the positive aspects, the breakfast was overall good and the breakfast staff was very kind and helpful. At the reception, however, we found professional staff, but they were very cold and unwelcoming, especially after we pointed out the shower problem and the gluten-free breakfast issue. In summary, it was not an entirely negative experience, but we expected a higher level of care, maintenance, and attention to guest needs."

"I received a single room on the top floor. You can tell that it has seen better days. The mattress was already sagging, the chair at the desk was unstable, and the grout in the bathroom also did not look good anymore. The water pressure in the shower was very low. It is not wheelchair accessible. The hotel only has one elevator. You can only reach it by going up 4 steps. However, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel in Porto is very good; you can get to the center quite quickly. The price is okay."
