"Information for those who have watched travel bloggers (like "why not 5*") and read heartfelt reviews about Sunrise Aqua Joy Resort Hurghada and are considering it for their vacation.
A month has passed since arriving from the hotel. Therefore, emotions were left behind, I will be extremely objective, I will describe the key points. Related to the hotel, and not only)
1. Arrived in Hurghada late at night - there was a couple of hours delay. They gave the number right away "for sinners" - if you face the sea, the left hull (I think, 2346). On the third floor, at the very end. The window-balcony opens directly onto the exhaust vents of some restaurant. They were buzzing wildly all the time - they didn't get enough sleep. The whole number is killed: starting from the entrance door - it barely opens, as well as the bathroom door, the balcony. The doors on all the cabinets are rattling on the hinges and so on. In the shower, the showerhead is siphoning in all directions, the doors are difficult to open less than half, and other unpleasant little things.
It's dirty everywhere, including the corridors of the building, where the furniture is completely ruined with stained upholstery. In short - we were in complete shock.
Moreover, the manager at check-in spoke calmly, with smiles, and no complaints or requests were made. I suppose they operate this number in exactly that mode – for those who are "late").
2. In the morning we went to the lobby - we found Svetlana (Guest), she quickly and for free organized a room for us in the main building with a view of Mamsha. A completely different room - all worn by time and tourists, but it works. The room is spacious, quiet, overall - excellent (for this hotel). A girl named Doha was checking us in at the lobby - she was great, sociable, and speaks Russian well. Svetlana and Doha are one of the most pleasant experiences at the hotel )). Svetlana, hi! I know you are here. Thank you for the help!
3. Construction sites are just a nightmare - not only for vacationers and staff. Noise from morning till evening, cement dust right onto the beach. They are currently building the building right opposite the children's club, the pool with animation. During the day, music tries to overpower the construction site. In the dust, not only everything in the hotel, but also the shop windows of the merchants on Mamsha. And they will be building for a very long time - there will be a huge hotel on one side, and a smaller one on the other.
4. Beach injury. Since the lagoon is artificial, they reinforced the banks with concrete "decor" and decorated them with pebbles. But, as it is in the East - beautiful only where it is visible. Made steps for the entrance to the sea. BUT - the step above is visible, and below there might be, or there might not be, pieces of concrete or rebar sticking out. During high tide - how beautiful, but very dangerous. On one of those steps I stumbled - there was a tide - the water rose above the first step, it didn't seem deep through the water, I was holding my wife with one hand. On the first step, my foot went down and "sank" - the depth was much greater, I spun around, my wife held me, and I crashed into the sharp pieces sticking out of the step, either concrete "chunks" or coral remnants (visible in the video). It turned out to be painful and deep. A huge black "bruise" instantly popped out, we hobbled to the room, but there was a bar on the way. The bartender's wife asked for ice (he doesn't understand Russian, but he quickly darted over, looks like I'm not the first). In general, with a couple of kilos of ice, the bruise "went away," but the wound was bleeding, and the leg started to swell up badly. The next day I contacted the insurance company, they provided a transfer, and took me to the hospital (The insurers acted very quickly and coolly: from contact to transfer – 20-30 min – well done). They examined him there, took a bunch of blood, and sentenced him to an operation. I'll skip the details here. In general, I was discharged the next day, and I went for dressing changes for another 3 days - they provided a transfer. I asked the hotel staff to give Svetlana to help talk to the doctor at the hospital during a dressing change – they refused (The villain who refused was the guest relations manager). I really wanted to point out whose fault it was, but I refrained. There were other priorities. I can say with confidence that 2 "translators" on 2 phones don't help communicate in English-Arabic that much). But it came undone.
Why I brought up this topic – because it's already been a month – the wound hasn't healed yet, neither where I was hurt nor where the operation was performed. There is a lot of infection in the warm seawater and I deeply cut my leg. Be extremely careful.
5. I will try to post videos and photos of the ugly arrangement of the lagoon shore, if the admins don't delete them.
6. How a normal person, after an injury, develops selective perception—things they didn't notice before (and you didn't notice!)—starts to notice. It turns out that in this hotel, every day at least one person is limping or has a plaster on their leg!!! Most often - not one, and the children are limping too. A plaster also constantly floats in the sea )). On our last day at the hotel, in the evening, the girl seriously injured her leg there (in "our spot"). Since the girl was young, slender, beautiful, and injured her leg higher up, near her bikini, the lifeguards (we were constantly near them) quickly got up from their spots, jogged to the pontoon, brought a suitcase with medical supplies, and started examining, bandaging, etc., the girl in two. Very cool. I tell my wife, it's a pity that I'm not a girl, they would have treated me right away too )).
7. As for the rest: "alkashka" - even if I didn't have to "get my face wet" for real - it is the worst alcohol in Egyptian hotels of this price range. Nothing to drink besides beer. Even with the bartenders, when they got along a little, they would pull "premium" from the back—that's "the bottom." Of course, there is a certain plus in this - the "cosmonaut" who was shaken only once. You probably brought it with you.
8. The diet is completely standard for Egypt. All bland. Everyone seasoned to their taste. Only "they" can spoil food like that. We were preparing steaks from red fish, crab, shrimp - but you can't call it tasty. Just edible. We were at the Far Eastern à la carte - the squid and shrimp were not chewy, they were rubbery. Although the senior administrator quickly arranged a "chef's special" dish for a minor remark (they were interested in how tasty it was), it wasn't enough to fix the impression. And the admin was marked with "thanks" for the effort, as it should be.
9. "Main restaurant" - "canteen" is something. It is large in generosity, but has low ceilings. Even when there are hardly any people - it's impossible to talk - there is an unimaginable noise from the chefs, the clattering of dishes, carts, etc. I have never encountered anything like this before. A very bad architectural decision. But there are guys working there who "fly" around, attentive - it's pleasant to communicate with them.
10. Evening show. I haven't seen anything like that anywhere either. A scene that hasn't changed for 5 years, completely boring, monotonous dances... Exhausted artists... Less than a third of the seats are occupied by spectators. There was once a fire show closer to the beach on a specially erected stage, but the lanterns shone not on the stage, but directly into the audience's eyes. So, nothing was visible on the stage at all. And on the sand - where the fire performance was - only the fire was visible. It's the impression that the scene was edited by first-year students of the humanities institute during a rehearsal.
11. The animators, besides patrolling the beach in the morning, were not mentioned in any other way. In general, "unobtrusive."
I don't understand where such high ratings on all aggregators, blogger screams, super reviews come from. Even other travel agents recommended this hotel to me. From "Sunrise" - there is only one word in the name, it has nothing to do with the grid. Sold only by means of the magic word in the title.
For the money he is selling for now, I would not recommend him (at least until the neighboring hotels are built). The biggest advantage is that the tides due to the water level change are about half a meter, and they are not strongly felt (for example, in Gravity Hurghada - the lagoon is left without water at low tide), and the location is good - there is a supermarket nearby with "normal" prices, there is a Russian pharmacy nearby where a wonderful girl works - we became friends with her.
The guys - the vendors - on the promenade are great - we communicated with them wonderfully, they discounted prices by 2 times or more )) but for such a show with enthusiastic people, it's not a shame to overpay a little, plus, it still turns out much cheaper than at home. I'm not talking about magnets...
For haters: - I am a positive person, an optimist, I always look for the good, otherwise why go somewhere and find trouble, grumble, etc. But at Sunrise Aqua Joy, there are really few "troubles." We are paying not only for the pleasant staff, of whom there aren't that many either.
A lot of text – so that you, dear tourist, in anticipation of your vacation, know where you are going and are ready to see what is there, what you are paying your money for. If you agree with everything (both good and bad) - enjoy it. To everyone, the most positive emotions!!!"
