Amour Holiday Resort
Corfu, Greece
Honest review from family holiday.
June 2026
Not normally one to leave a review but having read the reviews before we travelled along with an email from Jet2 telling us about construction work next door..... It had us so stressed out that if anyone else is in the same position. Hopefully this helps.
We returned from the Amour yesterday.
Firstly, we had a great holiday. We were a family of 4 (children 6 and 10) and Nanny and Grandad in their 70's. The hotel is in a great location. Shops, restaurants and beach on the door step. 5min walk to main strip. Staff were very friendly and very helpful.
Is it a 4 star... Definitely not.
100 euro tax on each room on arrival we felt was too high.
Room was clean on arrival but cleaning service throughout our stay wasnt great and we had to keep asking for the room to be cleaned. The main reason being there was only a tiny bin in the bathroom for all the toilet waste and also everything else. There was no other bin in the room so it got full very quick.
Had to keep asking for extra towels and toilet roll (and pillows) which they gave no problem but having to keep asking made us feel awkward and made us not want to mention any of the other problems... Such as the broken wardrobe, the safe in the room was tricky to open and had no instructions and just loose in the wardrobe so could be carried out the room, shower head holder was broken etc.
Grandparents requested a room change when they arrived as they were given a room over the construction site and having read the previous reviews and concerns sent from Jet2 they were worried. They were offered another room though which was fine apart from they had to get the handyman to come and fix their door handle as they couldn't lock it. He came very quick though and sorted it.
Luckily they are quite fit as it was a lot of steps up to their room which others would struggle with.
Air con in the room was great, pressure in the shower was really good and plenty of hangers in the wardrobe but lacked space in the bathroom to put toiletries etc.
Mattresses were hard.
Reception is a long way away from the entrance/where you're dropped off with the coach and only handmade laminate signs point you in the right direction. Lots of little steps were a nuisance with our big suitcases. When we did reach the main building, staff were very helpful and aided us.
Food - the only issue we had is that they weren't really catering for the children. My son lived on plain pasta and bread and butter pretty much and had chips or pizza when it was available which wasn't everyday. There was lots of choice always a pasta option, couple of meat options plus fish and veggie options and it was all hot. The issue is if you don't like whats on offer.... We had two fussy eaters and they were the ones that struggled. There is a grill outside which was great and cooked something different every night.
Not a lot of desert choice initially but throughout the week there was actually more choice, same with the fruit.
Bar staff were very friendly and great with the children serving drinks and ice cream all day and night. Would have loved some baileys or equivalent available!
We were a group of 6 and all the tables are only set for 2 or 4. Most staff were helpful and allowed us to put 2 tables together but the one manager said we could not - I'm afraid we just ignored him and did it ourselves.
There is an upper and lower pool.
The water quality of the lower pool got worse through the week. 2 days before we left the children got out of the pool and their swimming costumes had turned green. There was algae all around the edge of the pool and evidently in the water. Anything in the pool was coming out green, ball and Lilo etc. and covered in algae. Ruined their swimming costumes, can't get the stains out.
We reported this to the reception... We found it hard to believe that they didn't know. To be fair they did try and address it and the water did look better on our last day but the algae on the side of pool was still there. I was worried about the children being ill and the water is shared between the two pools so we didn't use it the last 2 days and went to the beach instead.
We did have issues but nothing that ruined our holiday or warranted the stress that we put ourselves through the week before arriving and nothing that we couldn't live with, albeit the pool issue was the biggest problem for us but it only affected our last 2 days and it looked like they were trying to sort it.
Would we stay again, sadly no. But if you're going.. You'll be fine. We made use of the sidari Facebook groups to get recommendations for trips and restaurants and car hire and we had a great time."
