"We've been to Lindos well over 30 times now and this year we had our first stay at the Lambis. It's located in the Krana area of Lindos, which is the plateau located above the village on the opposite side of the main road, and is where the likes of Lindos View, Lindos Gardens, Lindos Horizon, Lindos Athena, and Rafael are also found. Lambis was built in 2003, and is on a hillside, so the higher rooms are up a steep slope. The village itself is down a steep hill and takes roughly 20 minutes to walk, but you can get taxis or golf buggies if you prefer.
On arrival we were met by the night barman. It was around 12.30 AM and we'd been travelling since lunchtime so were tired. He immediately asked us to pay the Greek room tax (not expensive, and paid per night not per person) before anything else happened. Once we'd done this, he bombarded us with information about bar, pool, and snack bar opening and closing times and wifi passwords, then handed us our key and told us "you're in that block" and that was it - he didn't walk us to the room, check we were OK with it, help us with bags, nothing. We're able bodied, but were surprised as every time we've been on holiday we've always been taken to the room, helped with bags, and here it seemed not to be a thing.
The rest of the staff also seemed a little off, apart from the cleaners who were lovely, always bright and cheery. Each morning we'd go to the bar and order something for breakfast, and although we'd smile and say good morning it was rare that the greeting or smile would be returned, even at the end of our stay. I don't know if the staff were tired at the end of the season, or just shy, but it felt odd, as though we were a bit of a hindrance instead of welcome guests. We noticed that most other guests were treated similarly, so it wasn't just us. This seemed to rub off on the guests too - when we walked round the pool in the morning it was rare that anyone would say hello, or good morning. We had a walk to another hotel nearby one day and as we walked towards the place a guest passed us and said hello, and people in its snack bar wished us a good morning, including all of the staff, but this didn't happen at all at the Lambis. A strange atmosphere all in all.
The room we had was located on the ground floor by the pool and the view was mostly of palm trees which were planted next to our terrace, but beyond these we could see the pool, including the two pool tables by the bar and - unfortunately - into the two poolside toilets. It seems that you can't see the Acropolis or the sea from most of the site, but perhaps you can from the highest rooms at the back. Our room was quite dated but was clean (the maids visited every day except Sunday) and comfortable, especially the bed and pillows - we slept very well through the holiday, better than at home in fact. The bathroom was very dated, with an enamel bath and a hand-held shower in a bracket on the wall, with a plastic shower curtain. The bath was very narrow and slippery, so turning round was tricky. The basin also had no plug, so you couldn't use it to wash your face, and the drain had no grille on it so could have been a risk for dropping things down the hole. Thankfully this didn't happen. The room had a sofa, lots of storage, and the kitchen had two electric rings, a fridge with small freezer compartment, a kettle, toaster, and some basic cutlery items, glasses, mugs, and plates. There was also a bottle of washing up liquid, tea towel, and sponge scourer. The balcony has a nifty pull-out washing line, big enough for small things like beach wear and washed underwear items. I did hear somebody say that they'd spoken to the manager of the Lambis about the rooms and was told that the plan is for them all to be refurbished over the next two years.
The pool area is absolutely lovely. It was apparently refurbished two years ago and has really nice beds with thick mattresses - some have sunk a bit where people have sat, so have a little crater in the middle - and there were always plenty of free beds when we were there in late September / early October. The pool and its surroundings are tiled with beatuiful large porcelain tiles, and the pool (very cold!) was clean. Around the pool area is a white wall, which means that the pool area is private and hidden from the surrounding area, but also means that if you like looking out across the wider area you can't really see what's going on. The bar area is a continuation of the poolside and has nice tables and chairs, and the food we had was good. The hotel grounds are very nice, with lots of interesting cactuses, bougainvillea, and palm trees.
Would we stay at the Lambis again? Despite the issues with the staff being quiet and subdued, and the room being dated, yes, we would. We have a preferred hotel in the area which we're already booked to go to next year, but if for some reason we couldn't go back there we'd happily return to the Lambis."
