Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh

"This is my third stay at this hotel in a year. The location is perfect and rooms are clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Check in was a bit arduous and the lady whom I was dealing with seemed rigid. I asked if I was able to check in early as I had flown a long distance overnight, and she was adamant there was no note on my file despite the fact I received an email confirming the request. She also informed me that requests can not be made by phone yet my friend had also called to request such and also been advised there was a note on file, Fortunately another email helped the lady at the desk and the issue was resolved. Kym at Leo’s continues to be a wonderful ambassador for this hotel and huge asset at managing the breakfast buffet. Service in Leos has been better at dinner previously. The food is still good but a large group already present meant although I was seated prior to another couple, their drink order and dinner order was taken first. They had their food before anyone came to see what I wanted 40 minutes after being seated. This was disappointing and I mentioned it to the waiter at the end of my meal"

"We visited for a wedding staying two nights in October. Receptionist and check in was great, very quick and very friendly, even offering us prosecco! However, the room. We booked a 'superior' room (the basic rate). Unfortunately we were given a corner room it seems, room 407. It is much much smaller than advertised. It is meant to be 21m2 (according to Booking.com) but it was likely smaller than 15m2. The double bed felt much smaller than a standard double bed, which was not very comfortable for two adults. There was almost no light. The window faced a wall, and we only had one bedside lamp and one hanging lamp. This meant the room felt dark the whole time, I even had to use a torch to look inside the cupboard during the day, let alone in the evening. The bathroom also had no extractor fan. We both showered in the evening, and when I opening the curtain the window was soaking wet, as were the curtains, and some of our belongings. For the price paid, I really expected more from the hotel. Pros: Clean room Friendly staff Cons: Tiny room No light No ventilation"

"First time in Edinburgh, not the welcome we expected. Paying to stay four nights, assigned a room on the first floor facing a dumpster area. Hotels really need to learn to assign rooms according to the number of nights a guest is paying for."
