"I am a retired hotel mgr and have worked from brands from Red Roof Inn, Omni Hotels, and independent boutique hotels.
Overall, the hotel was absolutely wonderful. The M Club was superior to most American Marriott properties with far more options available. That said, by European standards, they failed to offer variety. Breakfast was the same items every morning. It would have been nice to see some variety, especially since the hotel was at high occupancy. Even definitely needed more variety, but still better options than what you receive from most American Marriott Bonvoy properties.
The restaurant is definitely an area where I would love to see a selection of menu items. They were offering a Military Tattoo special menu which gave a few more options available. I honestly believe if they offered a finer menu they would attract more locals because the restaurant layout is fabulous and the location is great. Spirit options definitely needs to grow or improve.
The spa!!! I reached out a month prior to book my treatments. I tend to spend a lot of money in the spa. On this occasion I booked FOUR treatments and would have done more, however accommodations seem to be a problem. Even booking 30 days out, my therapist argued about the service I booked. Kudos to him for double checking and apologizing for the mistake. He was a great therapist. I booked a 75 massage plus a 25 foot treatment. Thats not exactly what I received. The problem was rectified for my next massage and we she actually uphold me and booked a full body salt scrub prior to the 75 minute massage. That therapist was also incredible. I tried to book another treatment but was told no availability and it was not allowed to book an outside therapist. Very disappointing to reach out a month in advance and have these issues. I budgeted 1200 pounds for the spa and spent 400 because of availability. The Yu Spa actually was thrilled to take my money and called in a therapist to book all my treatments. I thank the Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite desk for that recommendation.
GUEST ROOM was very spacious, well maintained, and couldn't be happier. It was on the ground floor, and had some people parking next to the window, so I had to keep the blinds closed at all time or be mindful of my current dress. My frustration was with housekeeping. I may be American, but I drink a lot of tea. I had to do to the front desk and request replenishment. Twice, they failed and I just went and took the product from the M lounge. I requested a king and got two twins, however, it wasn't a problem. Not a big deal, as I had a load of points and wasn't paying for my room. So I understood getting the twins. We just pushed them together and housekeeping made the bed each morning as if it were a King anyway. VERY GENEROUS AND ACCOMMODATING.
Definitely would stay here again. It is a beautifully well maintained property. The guest rooms are very spacious given it is a more modern building. It is outside of Old Town but an easy walk and along the bus routes. This property could easily be rated higher than it is with a focus on customer service, quality, and changes to the restaurant.
If you're staying during the Festival, and want away from the crowds, I. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT."
