"Rome was the start of a 16 day vacation in Italy and Sicily for my wife and I and a group of friends. We flew from Philadelphia US to Rome overnight and arrived 7:05 am Italy time. By the time we got through customs and the new system that didn't work and took our pre-arranged shuttle to the Hotel it was about 10am. Our actual check in time was 3:00pm, but we check with the Desk clerk to see if we could leave our bags there until we checked in and she said they did have a secure room and we could leave our bags there. We also asked if we could check in early if rooms became available. The female desk clerk said we could and that she would call us as soon as a room became available. So, we took a walk and got something to eat. We came back to the hotel lobby around noon and again asked if they had a room so we could do an early check in. We explained we had a Tour at 3:00 and would like to lay down for a while if possible. We would have paid extra if necessary although I have never had to do that at other Hotels in the past to do early check ins. She said still no rooms available. So, we went a hung out on their patio off the lobby. We were with a group and our Trip leader arrived around 1:00pm and they checked her in and gave her a room. When we saw this, myself and two other couples we were with approached the Desk again and asked the Desk Clerk why we didn't get the available room since we had been there since 10am. She couldn't explain well and just said still no rooms. Then a Male Desk Clerk came on duty around 2pm. We ask him if any rooms were available, he said no in a not so pleasant tone. In short, they made us wait until 2:59 PM before they would check us in. I told the male Desk clerk we were not happy! There was no way that all of a sudden several rooms became available at 2:59. I am sure the maids had the rooms available earlier. It's a shame, because the Hotel was nice and newly renovated and clean. Unfortunately, the staff were very rude, inconsiderate, and not very accommodating. I probably would not stay there again."
