Ruby Claire Hotel & Bar

"I took my wife to Geneva for her birthday and decided to stay in the Ruby Claire Hotel as the reviews and the photos looked good and the location was very central. The check in experience was poor and was genuinely the longest I have ever had to spend checking into a hotel. There were a number of people waiting to check in via the automated tablets while a member of staff at the reception dealt with customers complaining about their rooms. Because of the time taken to use the tablets, this caused a queue blocking the entrance to the reception and general frustration with multiple people waiting. It took me approx 15 minutes to check in with no help or offer of assistance from the staff. We were not asked if we had stayed previously, did we need any advice with visiting Geneva, offered any refreshment or given any information on the wifi, timings for the bar and food, nor we were told about the rooms not having tea or coffee facilities and that these were provided complimentary on each floor in a 'gallery' area. As it turns out, we woke early due to body clocks and travelling and had we had known, would have used the coffee machine on our floor. The room was located internally so we had no view except of A/C units on the back of an adjacent building which were loud and disrupted our sleep. The nearby tram line caused the vibrations to be felt which sound ridiculous as we were on the 5th floor but it's true. We are positive people and generally don't complain but our stay was a disappointment. A shame to say we would not stay there again and we cannot recommend the hotel based on our experience. When we checked out early morning, I mentioned the room having no tea and coffee and that's when we were told about the gallery on each floor. The guy on reception did make us a coffee before we departed but didn't seem bothered about us not being told about that or anything else. The only bonus was you get 20% off the car parking ticket fee if you stay in the nearby Mont Blanc car park."

"No water in the room, no fridge, Very average quality of room"

"It is an unusual hotel with some quirks which I did not appreciate. The check in process is confusing because the reception desk is also the bar. There was a person at reception and being the sign for self check in. I was unsure if the person was to help with check in or was the bartender. She was able to help and I got my room. Going to the room was also unusual because the hallways are very dark with motion sensitive lighting. I was able to walk out of the elevator into almost pitch black before the lights turned on. I did not appreciate the dark tunnel effect. The hotel room itself was virtually all white. A dramatic contrast with the hallway but, initially, a bit of a hospital feel. It was clean and comfortable. The room window looked out into an interior space of the building so no views of Geneva anywhere. The breakfast was very nice and food good. Unfortunately, the service at the restaurant / bar in the evening was poor. It was a quite evening but no one checked on the guests to ask if anyone wanted any additional drinks or food. The location is great but I would not return."
