"Our flight was delayed 5 hours meaning we arrived at 3.30am in the morning instead of around 10.30. On arrival there was a member of staff leaving to go home that helped us as we was dropped off at the front where the supermarket entrance is and at that time in the morning the reception for the hotel was not visible only for the young gentleman being very helpful and guisldimg us and helping as we had 3 children 2 of them being young and 1 in a buggy with 3 suitcases. Once at the reception there appeared no staff in sight the young lad that helped us had to go get a member of staff, then a male appeared from the stairs half asleep and definitely not expecting us. He should of been expecting us as we hadn't checked in and surely should of known he would be getting guest later than planned. We then thanked the young male and told him to get himself home he had done enough. We was then left with this member of staff working nights that clearly needed time to wake up and deal with us. He was so slow and repeatedly kept on telling us how he wasn't expecting us to turn up so late and that he was new to the night shift and was extremely tired. At this point I was getting frustrated we just wanted to get I'm our room and get the children to bed. Each passport log took so long and at one point he needed guiding. I asked if it was possible to get some water as we hadn't drank since the plane and was worried the children needed some fluids, he sent me to the vending machine down the stairs that took 10 euros but didn't give me anything, he's reply was oh it has been doing that 😕 eventually we got our room key and managed to get in the room. Thankfully the room was perfect and we finally got to bed 1 hour later. Didn't make a big deal of it when there as he clearly wasn't with it and had been put on nights out the way but he really isn't suitable for the job. I work nights and totally understand it's tiring but he was clearly not with it and had no clue what he was doing. Thoughout the week we seen him a number of time at night in the bar in the dark sleeping with his head on the table. When we was leaving to come home at 6am in the morning he went to check our room that took him 20mins my husband had to go fund him as our taxi was waiting to give us our deposit back. I also left my phone in the room and if he had checked that room would of easily found it. Management really need to consider there night team and although can't discriminate he is definitely not an appropriate team member for reception."

"We’ve just left Sunclub Salou after a 14-night stay. Having read previous reviews, I wanted to leave an honest review from a family of 6 who booked a budget-friendly hotel and didn't expect 5-star luxury with à la carte dining. ​Accessibility & Location A lot of reviews mention accessibility negatively. My son uses an electric wheelchair at home, but when we travel we bring his manual one so we can push him. Yes, the hotel is at the top of a short hill—it’s not ideal, but it’s really not a massive issue; you’re up it in less than a minute. ​When booking via Jet2, it stated pool access was "not tested for wheelchair users." I knew I could get a wheelchair down steps if required (which I did without issue), but I also spoke to reception and confirmed there are actually two step-free routes to the pool area: via the attached shop or through a staff route. ​Food & Rooms We booked half board, and the food couldn't be faulted. That goes for both breakfast in our hotel and dinner in the sister hotel, Cala Vinya (less than a 3-minute walk away, which is clearly highlighted prior to booking). ​The rooms were clean on arrival and serviced daily by the maids. The double and single beds were comfortable—not Premier Inn quality, but as comfortable as (if not comfier than) most holidays we've been on. The pull-out sofa bed was small, but provided adequate sleeping arrangements for our 11-year-old. The shower had great water pressure. ​Note: There is a €20 fee to hire a cot for the stay (and €20 for a high chair), despite booking for 2 adults and 4 children. Not a major negative, just something to bear in mind. Bedding was changed once over the two weeks (seems to be the new norm), and towels were replaced every 3 days. ​Pool & Facilities The pool area is kept clean, and lifeguards are quick to fix or report issues. Inflatables are allowed, which is great for the kids. The balcony gap mentioned in other reviews wasn't a safety concern for our 15-month-old, though he did manage to throw a dummy and a tag over! ​Washing machines and dryers are available on-site for €6 per load—a bit steep, but very convenient to cut down on post-holiday laundry. ​Noise & Entertainment On-site entertainment is steady away (bingo, karaoke, kids club, dancing). Word of warning on noise: The H10 Mediterranean Village hotel opposite also runs entertainment, and it is ridiculously loud. When it's a bad act, it's pretty horrendous with shouting and screeching. We wouldn't trade our sea view to avoid it, but if noise bothers you, consider requesting a room on the opposite side of the building. ​Local Area & Transport ​Shops: The on-site supermarket is expensive for convenience. Walk to the shop at the bottom of the hill for much cheaper water and supplies. (Note on tap water: Spanish tap water is safe to drink, though it often has a strong mineral/chlorine taste, which is why most people stick to bottled water.) ​Transport: Taxis are always right outside. The 'Plana' bus service is fantastic—buy a top-up card near the bus stops. We used it to reach Salou, Tarragona (for the Roman ruins), PortAventura, and the train station for Barcelona. ​PortAventura Tip: Great day out! Switch your Lidl app location to Spain to grab a 50% partner discount code when booking online. If you are taking a disabled guest, ensure you bring both official proof of disability paperwork AND photographic ID to get fast-track/accessibility entry. ​Overall Summary ​Hotel: 4/5 ​Pool / Play Area: 4/5 ​Food: 5/5 ​Staff: 5/5 ​Would we return? 5/5"

"My family and I had a fantastic week away at this hotel. My partner and I travelled with our three children: a nine-year-old, a six-year-old and an eleven month old. Upon arrival, we were immediately impressed by the hotel’s lovely and clean rooms. On the day of our arrival, our six-year-old’s birthday, the hotel staff went above and beyond. They decorated the room with a cake, balloons and other treats, making his day extra special. The room was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of natural light. The pool area was also spotless and had plenty of sunbeds available. The pool opened around 10am, so we didn’t have to rush to get a bed. Our boys absolutely loved the children’s pool with its slide and tipping bucket. The food was delicious and catered to all tastes. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. There was also a good selection of entertainment options, including kids’ hour, bingo and a fun entertainer. The hotel shop had a wide range of products, including everything my son needed, even though he has a milk allergy. Despite reading a few negative reviews, I can honestly say that this hotel exceeded our expectations. We had a wonderful holiday and will definitely be returning!"
