"Ibiza Rocks Hotel Review
We had a really enjoyable stay at Ibiza Rocks overall, with some definite positives, although there were also a few things that we found disappointing.
The staff were great throughout, and check-in was really easy and well organised. The hotel shop was also a real bonus, with good opening hours and a surprisingly good selection of things, so it was really convenient when we needed something. Our room was clean and basic, but perfectly adequate for what we needed, and the bathroom was a good size.
We had a room overlooking the main pool party, which was great for getting a feel for the atmosphere, but it was very loud during the day. If you're someone who likes to have a nap during the afternoon, this probably isn't the room location for you, as there was absolutely no chance of sleeping while the pool party was going on!
We booked a day bed for the R&B day party, which had a €100 minimum spend per person. We felt that we were almost forced into booking this because there didn't seem to be much reserved seating available for hotel guests at the day party. It would have been nice to have more seating options available without having to commit to such a large minimum spend.
The party itself was actually quite chilled and didn't have as much of a party atmosphere as we'd expected. There was a good party in the middle of the day, but afterwards it became quite relaxed. We also had to chase the waitress quite a few times to take our drink orders, which became a little frustrating.
One thing we particularly didn't like was the huge difference in price between ordering food and drinks through the day-bed service and buying them yourself from the bar. For example, a cheese and tomato pizza was €15 when ordered directly from the bar, but €25 if ordered through the waitress service at the day bed. That's quite a significant difference for exactly the same pizza. Drinks were also considerably more expensive through the day-bed service. We were also disappointed that the frozen cocktails couldn't be ordered to the day beds.
The chill-out pool, however, was really good. The music was great, although it was arguably a little too loud for somewhere called a "chill-out" pool! The food and drinks were lovely and the service there was much better. The frozen cocktails during happy hour were particularly good, especially the pineapple daiquiris. 🍍
The biggest issue for us at the chill-out pool was the sunbeds. They were extremely uncomfortable and really impractical if you wanted to turn over, lie on your front or even sit up properly. There were also some large round beds with mattresses around the pool, but unfortunately it had rained that morning and they were completely soaked. They didn't appear to have any protection from the rain, so they couldn't be used, which was a shame.
The location of the hotel is excellent. It's around a 10-minute walk to Café Mambo and about 10 minutes down into the main area of San Antonio, with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. There were also quite a few people hanging around outside the front of the hotel trying to sell drugs. They didn't bother us personally, but it's something worth being aware of.
Overall, we had a good stay and there are definitely things we liked about Ibiza Rocks, particularly the staff, location, cleanliness, shop, chill-out pool, music, food and drinks. However, the uncomfortable sunbeds, the day-bed pricing and service, and the lack of reserved seating options for hotel guests were significant negatives for us. The R&B day party itself was also a little underwhelming in terms of atmosphere.
Would we return? Probably not, mainly because of the sunbed situation and the overall day-party experience. That said, we still had a good time and Ibiza Rocks definitely has a fun atmosphere and a fantastic location."
