"Fabulous hotel . Does what it says on the tin. Only draw back was we had to move rooms on the 2nd day as there was smokers below us and it stank. New room was fantastic location and no more issues. So close to the sea almost in it."

"The hotel is located at the beginning of the approximately 2.5 km long, lively promenade. The "Biosfera Plaza" mall is about 3 km away and the harbor is about 3.5 km away. Directly across from the hotel is a bus stop. From there, you can reach, for example, the "Biosfera Plaza" for €1.40 or Arrecife for €1.90. Due to the orientation of the building, you have an ocean view from almost all rooms. The beach is located directly at the hotel. Due to the existing lava rock, however, entering the ocean is only possible about 100 m further to the left, in front of the neighboring hotel "Las Costas". When you are back at the hotel afterwards, however, the search for a shower that actually has enough water running from it begins. The staff was for the most part very nice and accommodating – with the exception of one employee at the reception, Ms. Martina E. We had already requested a room as close to the sea as possible via email before our arrival. On site, however, we received a room in a set-back building block. When I asked again politely after checking in, Ms. Martina E. at the reception informed me that an upgrade would be required for this. However, guests who complain would not receive this. Throughout the entire hotel complex, one finds numerous areas where floors, walls, and ceilings appear to be in need of renovation or refurbishment. There is also a clear need for improvement regarding the Wi-Fi. Although Wi-Fi is theoretically available throughout the entire hotel, it is practically unusable due to the sometimes extremely weak signal strength. In addition, one has to log in again every day. The cleanliness of the toilets by the pool also leaves something to be desired. Another major point of criticism is the smoking policy. Smoking is permitted on all sunbathing areas as well as on the balconies. As a non-smoker, you are involuntarily exposed to secondhand smoke several times a day. After dark, the balcony lighting is switched on centrally and remains in operation until shortly after 11 p.m. There is sufficient space in the restaurant for the maximum of around 650 hotel guests. With such a capacity, however, a significantly broader and more varied selection of food would be desirable. The quality of the food also failed to convince us. It was actually the first time in decades that I did not gain weight while on vacation. I found the ice cream to be particularly critical: This was partially insufficiently cooled in the containers and nearly liquid. After consuming it, I developed gastrointestinal problems. The dishes were also partially not sufficiently clean. For an estimated 50% of the dishes, one had to look more closely or search for clean dishes. The rooms are relatively small and simply furnished. The bathroom in the comfort room, on the other hand, is at least quite modernly equipped and features, among other things, a bidet. However, the drain in the shower was severely clogged. This is likely not just a problem with our room, as even my daily flushing with extremely hot water through the shower hose—without the shower head—brought only minimal improvement. The air conditioning also barely worked. Even with a setting of 10 °C, the room temperature did not drop below 25 °C. The pillows are very thin and therefore extremely uncomfortable. Better or more comfortable equipment would be desirable here. The following German-language television channels were available in our hotel room: ARD, ZDF, ZDFneo, ZDFinfo, RTL, RTL2, Sat.1, ProSieben, kabel eins, WELT, sixx, Vox, 3Sat and DMAX. Overall, the hotel leaves us with a rather mixed impression. The location, the ocean view, and the good transport connections are clear plus points. The majority of the staff was also friendly and helpful. However, this is offset by numerous points where, in our view, there is a clear need for improvement—especially regarding the condition of the hotel, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, cleanliness, gastronomy, and the smoking policy. For us, the officially designated four stars are in any case incomprehensible given the overall condition and the mentioned defects."
