"Great location for beaches (Cala Esmerelda and Fererra). We loved night swims at Cala Esmerelda and my sons favourite was the ladders down to the sea at the bottom of the hotel and jumping off rocks. Its a truly beautiful spot.
We were self catering and so only ate at the hotel beach bar which was very nice - they do a good glass of rose and the views you cant really beat.
We stayed in a select self catering apartment in block B but the shower kept flooding (was walking through half an inch of water) so after 2 days of being given more towels I asked if we could move to another block. The next room was in F (116) and was one of the end apartments with an unexpected sea view. It was an older fit but much nicer layout so we were very happy with that.
I travelled with my 2 sons. I had assumed the corner sofa / additional bed in the living room would fit together to make another double but when I enquired they said no. So be aware that the living room beds are just a sofa with a sheet on.
The pool is split into two and I really enjoyed cooling down or reading my book at the edge. The main issue is they aren't really big enough for the hotel and so get quite crowded. But the sunbed situation is what would put me off returning - by 10am there are no sunbeds left, you have to get down there 8-8.30am to stake your claim which isnt my idea of fun on holiday. I did see staff remove towels once and put cards down if not returned to but after 10am a lot of beds are unused for most of the day which is frustrating.
People talk about selfish towel layers but the truth is the hotel doesnt provide enough sun loungers (even the ones away from the pool were nabbed by mid morning) and so you'll never change those behaviours. Also, even with the sunbeds around the pool, there aren't enough of the fixed umbrellas (and my afternoon you really need them). The hotel sells additional ones in the Spar shop for 15 euros which I bought out of necessity. You see them littered around the hotel when people check out.
Walk into town isnt far but in the heat it can feel further. Lots of nice restaurants and shops though and I thought everything was quite reasonably priced.
Self catering apartment was well equipped for a holiday but tricky as none of the local spa shops actually sell any proper meat to cook. Suma Fruit had a bit but you'd really need to walk to Mercadona in the Marina which is a haul in the heat. Suma does have well priced wine tho - a bottle of Cava there was 2.75 euro compared to 7 euro and up in the local spa shops. Croissants in the hotel Spa shop are amazing.
Its a lovely hotel but for me, not being able to sit by the pool without getting up early, doesnt work for a holiday so I probably wouldnt return."
