"Vienna is an expensive city and Ambassador is no exception. At €300 per night, excluding breakfast, expectations are high, especially when it sells itself as a six-star Grand Old Lady. It delivers to a large degree : its location could not be better between shopping street Kärntner Straße and Neuer Markt with its historic characteristics. Most tourist destinations are within walking distance (The State Opera, St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Imperial Palace and the Musikverein). The building is old, but in good condition. Reception staff could do with some hospitality training ; they usually hide in the little backroom and only come out reluctantly. The key to your room is unique and they will charge you a few hundred Euro if you lose it - you are requested to leave it at reception whenever you go out. We got room 319 facing the Capuchin Church opposite the square. A large space, very classic, classy European, high plaster decorated ceiling, striped wall paper, timber wardrobe, large bed, table chairs, fridge with bar. A very small bathrm with plastic handshower. Only 1 heater working, but they fixed the others next day. I see on their website that they have some outstanding luxury rooms, but I guess they would be more expensive. Ambassador was perfect for our 3 day stay."

"We loved this hotel the spacious rooms, right in the heart of the city. Yet it was quiet and peaceful. The staff were all helpful couldn't do enough. We bought the tickets for trams etc and they were great getting to and fro. Vienna, can't wait to return."
