Holiday Inn - the niu Franz Vienna

"Stayed in this lovely holiday inn right next to a tram stop and 1 mile from the prater Park The decor is lovely, friendly staff , the room was modern and comfy bed and a good assortment on the buffet breakfast I would reccomend staying here"

"I would not recommend this hotel. The location is not ideal, and the overall experience was very disappointing. The rooms are sold as air-conditioned, but the AC was switched off. One night, I woke up completely drenched in sweat. When I went down to the reception for help, there was no one at the desk—it felt like a haunted place. Eventually, a lady came in from outside the hotel and told me she couldn’t do anything. She suggested that I sleep with the windows open and said she would inform the management and arrange a room change. Nothing happened, and both nights I had to sleep without AC. The hotel staff, if available at all, were extremely unhelpful. We were told they could give a 15-minute parking ticket, but that it wouldn’t be useful for us. They directed us to a nearby Tabak (tobacco store), where we were informed that these 15-minute parking tickets are actually free—yet the hotel front desk still refused to provide one. The hotel had very few guests, and when we parked our car in the hotel garage at 11 pm, we requested a small discount since half the day was already over and we only needed overnight parking. Clara at the front desk declined immediately without even trying to understand our situation. Overall, the staff seemed disinterested and unwelcoming. As tourists, we expected at least some basic assistance, but instead, it felt like they just wanted to hand over the keys and get us out of their sight. It’s better to pay a little more and stay somewhere respectful, with honest room descriptions and helpful staff, rather than booking a hotel that sells non-AC rooms as AC."

"We booked this hotel last minute, for one night. It was a significant distance away from central Vienna. We were able to find parking on an adjacent street, which was free since it was a Saturday. Reception was welcoming, but was unable to promise us a late check out, despite our IHG status. The hotel and room was very clean, modern and funky with a youthful vibe. However, it was quite small, especially with an additional sofa bed. The shower door is open, making it slightly difficult for travelling groups. However, there is a glass panel, from which you are unable to see through. There is also shower gel and shampoo provided in the shower. Breakfast was brilliant, adequate for our lacto vegetarian needs. Unlike in parts of Central and Eastern Europe, there was a toaster provided. There was fruit yoghurt and plenty of different cereals. Fresh fruit and fruit salad was also available."
