SO Vienna

"I stayed here recently for a work trip and it absolutely delivered. The rooms are ultra-minimalistic—basically monochromatic grays, clean lines, and very stark. If you are looking for cozy, traditional luxury, this isn't it. But for a business trip, it is great. The layout is functional, the workspace is clean, the Wi-Fi is fast, and the rainfall shower is excellent after a long day of meetings. Plus, the floor-to-ceiling windows offer massive, undisturbed views of the city. The absolute highlight of the hotel is Das LOFT on the 18th floor. I can honestly say it’s the best sky bar I have ever been in. The 360-degree panoramic view of Vienna and St. Stephen’s Cathedral is breathtaking, and the lighted, colorful ceiling installation gives it an incredible vibe at night. Getting breakfast up there with that view completely changes your morning. Logistics-wise, the location is spot on. It's right on the Danube Canal, and the Schwedenplatz U-Bahn station is just across the bridge, making it incredibly easy to get anywhere in the city quickly. The staff were also highly professional and accommodating, even setting up a quick to-go breakfast for my early departure. It is definitely on the pricey side, but for the location, the views, and that rooftop bar, it is well worth it. I would absolutely stay here again for business."

"Having reviewed almost 300 hotels on TripAdvisor and staying at hundreds of five star hotels in USA, Europe, Asia and South America, this is the first time I can say this: Best hotel I have ever stayed in! From the moment we arrived the service from the staff amazed me. Exceptionally well trained staff, genuine desire to serve the guests and a friendly atmosphere that I never experienced in other hotels from virtually every employee we met. The reception team, the bell desk, the rooftop restaurant staff, housekeeping and the spa team all deserve praise and recognition. One amazing example: on Sunday morning the restaurant ran out of bananas at breakfast. I went to the front desk and asked the reception team if there is a market close by where I can get a banana! They told me markets are closed on Sunday but to sit down for a couple minutes! A couple minutes later she handed me 3 bananas! I have no clue how she did that! In over 40 years of traveling I have never experienced this level of service. Besides the exceptional service, our room was extremely comfortable and well laid out. Finally, I must compliment the hotel management for capturing such outstanding employees."

"In April 2026, I had a stay at SO/ Vienna that turned out to be one of the most pleasant and memorable travel experiences I've had! We were staying in a spacious and very comfortable room, with a superb view of the Danube and some of Vienna’s most beautiful sights. Dinner at Das LOFT was extraordinary! All the dishes exceeded expectations, and the wines presented by the sommelier were a unique experience in themselves. The Cusco we had for desserts is certainly a must to try. I highly recommend going up to the restaurant on the 18th floor for a truly special dining and aesthetic experience The staff super friendly, young, and exceptionally professional; provided us with an great level of care. Looking forward to be back again!"
