Bartaccia Hotel

"Solo traveller as part of a larger group. The hotel location is a long, hilly walk to the town. There is a lovely beach within 500m of the hotel entrance, down a steep climb. There is a shuttle bus offered into town, to all visitors I think or it may be just as we were in a group. There is nothing else nearby should you not want to use the hotel facilities. Room I had was fantastic, family room perhaps it had a small kitchenette, kettle, fridge etc all there. Huge room with large terrace onto the lawn, very comfortable. Only French tv (you are in Corsica) and it would be nice to have some English channels, especially as a solo traveller as it can give some company. Huge bathroom, with bath and walk-in shower. Separate toilet. Service was friendly but there is limited bar/food service should you wish to stay at the hotel all day. Pool bar opens for lunch noon to 2pm, and the choice was good. Then there is nothing until 4pm, no drinks or food available. Then just a bar opens until the restaurant opens at 6.30-7pm. It means that there is nowhere to buy refreshments outside this period, walking into town is not an easy option. Lovely pool area and gardens but not for me as too far from other options and you are limited to the hotel unless you want the long walk."

"Lovely small ish hotel with 2 great pools , lovely and helpful staff . Our rooms were spacious and comfortable, the breakfasts were lovely - and the hotel is well placed for walking or driving into Propriano and for exploring the nearby beautiful beaches. Would absolutely recommend ."

"After a rocky start to our 9 night stay, when the air conditioning in the suite we had booked did not work, we eventually settled into an alternative suite which,in the end, probably suited us better. The manager was very apologetic and made amends for the initial hiccup. Our room was spacious and very clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Staff were efficient and friendly. We were the first couple at the hotel to experience their "All inclusive" board. It was clear that, as this is a new feature, it was not easy, for either staff, or us, to know what you could and couldn't have. The food menus were fairly self explanatory, but the drinks were another matter. Staff had to consult a long list of all drinks available, to check if they were in the all inclusive choice. After a while, however, we knew where we stood on the drinks that we normally have. Overall, I believe the extra we paid for the all inclusive break, was worth it. There are 2 main criticisms of the hotel. Firstly, the main pool, that has a bar, has far too few sunbeds, ( and they must be the most uncomfortable we had ever laid on) , and there really needs to be parasols for them all. The temperature was in the mid 30's and it was almost impossible to lay in the direct sun for any length of time. I know they are adding another awning to one area of the poolside, but this will still leave 3 sides of the pool with no shade after about midday. Secondly, if you stay for more than a few days, the menu, both at lunch and dinner, becomes monotonous. In conclusion, we enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Bartaccia, but with a few changes I would have given it a five star rating."
