"Hotel Louis Blanc is excellent located just 50 meters from the Metro station "Louis Blanc" on the M7. This gives you pretty fast acces the the centre of Paris with multiple options to change lines on for instance "Stalingrad", "Gare de L'est", "Opera" or "Châtelet"
From Gare du Nord it is a good 15-20 minutes walk to the hotel if you take the RER from Charles De Gaulle airport.
The rooms are nice, clean and with plenty of space for two persons.
We lived on the second floor facing the street and if you are light sleeper it is pretty noisy in the evening and at night. The Police station is just around the corner and there is a hospital nearby, so there are quite o lot of ativity in the area.
Ear plugs are defintely recommended and buy some with quality. The hotel hands out some, but they are not really doing a great job keeping sirens out.
The hotel should really get some modern sound proof windows toward the street. There are also rooms facing the inner courtyard and they are much more quiet. Ask for those if you are a light sleeper. Maybe the higher floors facing the street are also more quiet, but I don't know if that is the case.
The staff is very friendly and very service minded.
Breakfeast is very nice and fair priced at 13,5 Euros from a price/quality perspective. The one person taking care of refilling buffet is really busy, so if you come around 8.30-9.30 then expect that you might have to wait a bit for some of the refill.
The area around Canal st. Martin is very vibrant in the evening with lots og young people hanging out eating, drinking wine and talking. There are lots of restaurants in the area, but don't hang out late at night around Stalingrad or Gare de L'est. There are many homeless and poor people in the area.
I would at any time come back to Hotel Louis Blanc for at stay. Only this time with my own ear plugs or in a room facing the inner courtyard :-)"
