"Staff are very nice and trying hard but there’s definitely a few quirks and inconsistencies with this hotel.
Our room was a good size (especially for Paris) and had a lovely view of Sacre Coeur but storage was very minimal, only a small closet about 18 inches wide, so we never unpacked as there is almost nowhere to put anything. This could easily be remedied by adding some under bed storage drawers, switching the glass and completely open nightstand tables for something with drawers, adding a bench that opens, etc. Feels like the redesign to the rooms was done for style and not thoughtful function, though even the design is a little lacking - no photos on the walls, e.g. We did appreciate the mini fridge and the carafe of water in the room daily. Also, the work done on soundproofing the large floor to ceiling windows that open out is impressive. The room was generally very quiet with windows closed.
Breakfast was included in our rate, but I would skip it - nothing special and there are lots of options in the area. If you do partake, try and go early when it’s quiet and before the larger groups get there and it becomes a more unpleasant experience. Some of the dishes - fruit, eggs, pastries - didn’t seem that fresh.
Rooftop bar is nice, we wished they served food - even a few appetizers - a little earlier. There was some food out but it wasn’t clear who it was for and we were never invited to partake, nor were others. So it just sat there with no one eating it. We assumed it wasn’t for us, as when we asked about ordering something we were told the kitchen wasn’t open yet with no mention made of available snacks.
Someone from the hotel went to the effort of sending us a note before we arrived asking about our arrival time, preferences, etc. but then much of this seemed to be disregarded at check-in. We weren’t able to access our room until an hour after the hotel’s check-in time, even though they knew we were coming in on an overseas flight and at minimum would expect to be in our room for the check-in time. The staff told us the guest before had requested a late checkout, I’m not sure why this was accommodated when they knew what time we were coming in. To their credit, they did comp us a round of drinks on the rooftop but this was an irritating way to start a vacation.
There is a slight smell to the floor foyers (as others have mentioned), I’m not sure about the plumbing though water pressure was surprisingly good. Also, this is an old building so somewhat understandable.
We were pleasantly surprised that beds were made daily and towels changed out (though we didn’t require the towel changeouts). The signage in the room suggested this wouldn’t be done. Main bed was comfortable, our daughter said her rollaway was a little hard. Our room was sufficiently clean but not sure a deep clean had been done for awhile.
Menu in the main restaurant didn’t really appeal or sound that appetizing so we never had a meal there.
The oyster bar looked interesting but it is right on the street and quite small so for us wasn’t all that inviting to sit down at. The boulevard is very busy with traffic, bikes and people, unlike some of the surrounding streets, so doesn’t really invite sitting even though there are tables. Would be great if they could serve oysters and seafood on the rooftop (maybe this is an option and we just weren’t there at the right time).
The lounge area off the reception is comfortable but small. Can easily feel crowded once there are three groups in it.
The hotel is well situated with good metro access. Not the place you want to bring a vehicle to, very minimal parking.
Not a bad hotel but with so many in the area we wouldn’t necessarily return here - particularly for the price."
