La Fantaisie

"La Fantaisie is an American Tourist Hotel in Paris, which is, in my view, closer to a midrange Best Western or Holiday Inn than the 5‑star property it claims to be. I regret choosing to stay here. The location is very poor for visitors to Paris. None of the major tourist sights are within reasonable walking distance, and anyone hoping for Parisian charm or neighborhood atmosphere will be disappointed. The hotel is overwhelmingly filled with loud, often intoxicated, American tourists staying with discounted" American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts" bookings, which makes the lobby, restaurant, and terrace feel more like a budget U.S. highway hotel than a refined Paris stay. At every turn, the property feels like a money‑grab. Breakfast is nominally included, but additional coffee or juice is charged extra. The self‑serve breakfast food consists largely of old, tired, chewy deli meats and bland, hard pastries that have been sitting out. Anything remotely fresh or made‑to‑order (eggs, omelets, etc.) incurs an additional fee, which feels out of place at a so‑called 5‑star hotel. The outdoor terrace could be charming, but the “signature cocktails” we tried were poorly made and not at all what one would expect from a "luxury property". Of the appetizers we sampled based on staff recommendations, both were very disappointing, lacked flavor, and tasted more premade out of a tub than freshly prepared. If what you truly want is an “American Tourist Hotel” experience, Hampton‑Inn‑style rooms far from the attractions, surrounded by loud fellow Americans, and with buffet food reminiscent of a low‑end chain, you can find that near your home at a 2‑star property. You do not need to travel all the way to Paris or pay 5‑star prices for such an underwhelming and disappointing experience. Look elsewhere, plenty of choices in Paris, less expensive, and closer to Paris sites."

After long days wandering the streets of Paris, soaking in the spa was pure bliss and the perfect way to unwind. The atmosphere, design and service were all exceptional.
