Ibis Hamburg St Pauli Messe

"Handy location for the U-bahn for quick transfers from the main station and into Hamburg for the tourist attractions. The area might seem a bit ‘sketchy’ at first, but just go one street away and there’s a few good restaurants and bars. There’s also the St Pauli Football fan shop round the corner! We came as a family group of 8 people in three rooms and were quite satisfied with the hotel. As usual, there was limited space for hanging clothes and certainly no drawers for your smalls. I was a bit miffed there seemed to be no plug socket on my side of the bed for phone charging, but found an extension cable under the furniture on the last night. It even had a USB port so that was appreciated. The room was comfortable, the bathroom perfectly clean with the usual toiletries and the aircon functioned perfectly. Reception staff were all friendly and helpful, particularly when ordering a couple of cabs after the pre-booked cabs let us down at the very last moment. (We had timed tickets for the Miniature Wunderland). Breakfast was great! We don’t usually do breakfast in hotels as partner is vegan and there’s usually not much for him to eat (making it rather expensive for just rolls and jam), however one family member insisted on paying for breakfasts for all. Thank you to all staff."

"Generally as expected for the price, however I've marked down to 3 due to the air-conditioning being turned off at night. Even with the AC set to approx 17 degrees celsius the room would still heat up to 24 degrees over night which is dangerous if you're travelling with a baby. Pillows very average. Staff were lovely and breakfast was better than expected."

"Hotel location is quite good, rooms comfortable as in every Ibis. Staff was nice. Two bad points: They turn off AC at night, because its colder outside - but room temperature was quite high. I some with staff and they told me that I have to open my window, but when you do, its very loud from the street. I did not get good sleep, and this is what I would expect when booking a hotel. Breakfast - shortage of cutlery and warm breakfast, expect at least 20 min hunting for scrambled eggs and fork."
