"We spent 2 nights at the Electra Palace Athens hotel prior to our 11 day cruise on Celebrity. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay. While it was a little more expensive than other hotels that we've stayed at, it was very much worth it! We wanted something that was close to the Plaka. Well, this hotel is within an easy 5-minute walk to the middle of the Plaka, just what we wanted. As for the hotel itself, we couldn't have been more pleased. When we arrived, we had expected to have 2 connecting rooms, for us and our daughter. Unfortunately, the type of room we reserved didn't provide that option. And, initially, our 2 rooms were not close together. After explaining our situation, and, with a brief discussion with the manager, they put us in rooms next to each other. Our rooms were great, nice and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was bright, roomy and the shower was fantastic. Now, for the best part, the complementary breakfast buffet. There was a great variety of hot and cold choices, especially for someone like me with Celiac Disease. They even had some nice gluten-free sweets. I especially loved the cocoanut macaroons! And the orange juice is some of the best I've ever tasted. Then, there's the view. Breakfast is served in the restaurant at the top of the hotel. Anywhere you sit, there's a view of the Acropolis. If you can, ask to sit outside where the view's even better, nice and relaxing. As for the staff, everyone was extremely courteous and helpful, and everyone spoke very good English. We've been to Athens 6 times now, and, I don't know if we'll ever get back there again. But I do know one thing, and that is that If we do go back, we're staying at the Electra Palace Athens again!"
