"Well where do we start, from the moment we arrived at the hotel, via a nice air conditioned coach transfer from the airport, we were warmly welcomed and made to feel totally at ease. We were shown to our well equipped room which had one of the most comfy beds we’ve experienced in a hotel – for someone that doesn’t sleep well this was a great bonus. Everything you needed was provided in the room and it was lovely to have soft drinks, beer and water alongside the hot options. The view from the balcony was stunning and the sound of birds and waves added to the relaxation.
The areas of the hotel we visited were all clean and well looked after and the staff were all very friendly whilst obviously hard working. The reception team always ready to welcome you and answer any queries, the housekeepers paying attention to the little details, the bar and restaurant staff looking after you and the staff we encountered around the grounds always greeted you with a smile.
The pool area was well laid out and there never seemed to be a shortage of sunbeds, having it divided in two sections was ideal for swimming or just having a quick dip/relax in the water and I thoroughly enjoyed the aqua fitness sessions. Bar staff circulated to offer drinks and kept these topped up during the day – though it was not far to walk to the bar if you wanted to get these yourself and view the snack options.
We had a lovely meal in the White Pearl restaurant and our waiter was lovely knowing when to offer menus, drink top ups or when to step back. This was an extra special evening as we got engaged this evening and we had a lovely table on the veranda overlooking the beach.
The main restaurant offered a wide range of food which was plentiful at all meal times giving plenty of options for a good meal and desert.
We enjoyed the evening entertainment which was varied, some of it more subdued, we particularly enjoyed the Greek folklore evening giving a taste of the local culture/traditions.
The beach whilst a mix of pebble/sawdust like material was nice to relax on though we hadn’t realised the shoreline shelved and is quickly out of your depth if you only wanted a paddle. The funicular though slow was a fun way to get up and back to the beach – though we did walk this one day and golf carts can also take you here – so plenty of options for accessing it.
We used the bus into Corfu town which was a very handy service – though we did think the timings could have been slightly improved as we decided to head back on the afternoon one but could have done with an extra hour – we could have waited for the evening bus but felt this could have been too long. Obviously a taxi would have been another option if you wanted different timings.
The views from around the hotel are stunning and for us the remoteness added to our holiday as we researched this hotel wanting somewhere peaceful to totally relax, we achieved this and felt very well looked after from start to finish.
Whilst nothing to do with the hotel thought the airport was worth a mention as this was very chaotic on our return, after a wait for check in – as this is only manually done here and passing security where we had to dispense of our drinking water. The queue for passport control filled the area and some people had been waiting around 2 hours when we joined it – this delayed all the flights that morning as there were several flights back to back – it looked like this had calmed down when we got to our gate but made for a stressful time wondering if we’d make the flight. We also found it strange that there was no access to drinking water unless you bought a bottle at around 4 euros, though TUI did offer to top up bottles once on board the plane."
