"It was difficult to fault this hotel, the rooms were clean and spacious, the staff were exceptional, friendly, attentive and hard working. The food in the main restaurant was of a good variety, properly cooked and warm.
The other restaurants had excellent food and lovely atmospheres.
There are plenty of sunbeds, and towels are provided. There are 3 pools, but one is next to the restaurant and appears to be decorative, the main infinity pool is not big, but seemed large enough for the number of beds around it and the smallest pool is small but wasn’t busy at all.
The site is on a hill, so there are a lot of steps. If you have mobility issues the hotel provided a golf cart chauffeur service to get around.
The beach area has a watersports hire centre which was handy and there is a dive centre on site which provided a free try dive for All inclusive plus guests.
Access to the sea was via a sheltered harbour type area which was safe and nice for swimming.
Many of the guests we spoke to were repeat customers which says a lot about the quality of the hotel and service.
Points to note
1. The hotel App is used for bookings and menus. You scan a QR code on the table and that gives you a menu but you can ask for a paper menu.
2. All inclusive plus is not the top rate, there are additional menu items available if you have a mythica range room. We asked and at additional cost you can purchase from the mythica menu, but as we were not informed it was available until I queried another guest having a rack of ribs which were not on my menu, we missed out on some nice food during our stay.
3. Drinks are proper premium drinks, but only beer, wine and juice is available in the restaurants during food service.
4. Mythica room guests get priority booking for the a la carte restaurants.
5. Their main night is a Greek night which is very popular and can only take 200 people. We arrived in the early hours of Wednesday morning, went on the app at 8am and it was fully booked already. So we missed out on the opportunity.
6. The hotel shop is expensive, I needed a cable to charge my phone and when I asked how much a JBL one was I was told €64. I checked online and the same cable was only € 25 online and I eventually got one for €5 in Elounda.
7. Even being all inclusive you still have to sign for all the drinks/food etc you have as there are no wristbands or similar to denote if you are all inclusive or not. The sign sheets allow you to tip also.
8. They have a loyalty club which if you join allows you to build up points to get upgrades on further stays.
9. A lot of the rooms have showers over baths which is not always good if you have mobility problems.
10. There is a free shuttle bus from the hotel to Elounda and Agios Nicholas.
11. The sun umbrellas cannot be moved so some areas, in particular the beach have limited shade at some times of the day.
12. If you are not on half board or all inclusive, a three course meal in the a la carte restaurants will be between 80 and 100 euros for a couple without wine.
Things we think would improve the hotel.
1. Have walk in showers for more basic rooms.
2. Have a single menu for all board guests but show prices for each of the board types, like you already do for Half board and All inclusive guests. Just make it clear on the menu that for economic reasons some board types may have additional charges for some food or drink items hut that all items are available to all guests.
3. Hold some spaces on the Greek night for arriving guests on the Wednesday and only release them to other guests after midday to allow an opportunity for all guests to attend the main night.
4. It would also be nice for a toilet to be next to the main pool, rather than having to walk through the Mirabello restaurant to use the closest toilet.
Apart from the above this is a great hotel"
