By the beach base in Elounda
Those that like to be near the sea on holiday will love the Lena Apartments. You’ll find this family-run place just outside of the centre of Elounda, perched across the road from a beach, and there’s a longer stretch of sand if you walk a couple of minutes along the coast. The local shops, bars and restaurants – as well as the town’s glitzy harbour – can be reached within a five-minute stroll, too.
Days here are best spent chilling out on one of the loungers by the pool. There’s a poolside snack bar for breakfast as well as drinks and light bites during the day. You can also order more substantial meals at dinnertime – the stuffed vine leaves come highly recommended.
The accommodation here comes in the form of studio rooms. They’re all set up for self-catering with kitchenettes, and there’s a supermarket just down the road if you fancy picking up some ingredients. You’ll also have air conditioning and a private bathroom, as well as a balcony or terrace to relax on.
