The Island Hotel

"Like most previous reviews, the hotel itself is beautiful. The room is adequate but lacks wall sockets ( only two viable and they are placed very close together.) Also very little space to put away clothes. The A/C is great and very good water pressure. The staff are great also, especially housekeepers. Breakfasts are really adequate with plenty of choice. Evening meals are by no means as good and varied as they should be for this quality of hotel. Overall, the holiday so far has been excellent, however, even at the “ quiet, relaxing “ pool we can still hear the inane rubbish from the so called D J around the main pool ! Management doesn’t seem to be bothered, but this is seriously bad. Other reviews confirm this - what a shame. Unfortunately, he blasts out his beat box by the only place where one can have a drink and bite to eat at lunchtime. Again, the hotel is in a beautiful position and is very comfortable. Please management DO something about the music offered by the appalling DJ. Still on holiday here but will remain around the “ quiet “ pool. Hope this is useful. PS absolutely no problem finding sun beds- quite a change from many hotels we have stayed in."

"This hotel is spread out and not for anyone with walking difficulties. It has four restaurants on the brochure. But only one is available for the evening meal. Two of the restaurants were closed when we arrived and similarly the week before. Only one other was open for lunch. The Stone. However it was listed as a la carte and it was not free, the menu was similar to that of the only one available restaurant for the evening meal.The Kitchen. Where breakfast was also served.Food was repetitive and boring. It's rated as 5 stars although no steaks or prawns were ever available. Good points. Near the beach with plenty of swimming pools and sunbeds on site. Included is a photo of our balcony. We had changed our room for a better view, best they could do. Altogether a disappointing experience with terrible entertainment on offer. Avoid!"

"Not sure how to start … As lovely as the hotel was, it’s definitely not a 5*. I would say 3.5! I was a solo traveller who had bed and breakfast. The breakfast was the same everyday, not much choice which was disappointing. The first room I stayed in was nice however, I’m not sure the cleaners were cleaning it. There was bits of mould on round the bath, I had a jacuzzi bath that didn’t work, a tv remote that didn’t work and on day 5, the electricity completely tripped at 3:30am! After trying to resolve it myself, I called reception, they were quick to respond however, flipped the trip switch (pretty obvious) to then tell me it couldn’t be fixed till the next day and would have to stay in that room! Obviously I objected, I am a woman, on my own, for my first solo holiday, so was scary enough, to stay in a room with no lights, tv for background noise and air con, was not an option. I insisted they move me, which they agreed to however, proceeded to ask me to pack up my things to take to the new room, it’s now 4am in the morning!!! I told them I would do this in the morning, at my convenience, which again, they reluctantly agreed to! I appreciate that things like this may happen however, at no point did I receive an apology, which was disappointing. Once in the new room, the following day I went to have a bath after sunbathing throughout the day, only to discover the bath had no taps! Lol these had been connected to the shower so only the shower could be used, which would have been fine had it not have fallen off the wall when using it! The staff there were lovely and made the visit worth it. The external areas of the hotel were lovely also but it needs some work for it to be classed as 5*. The entertainment was bleak. There was 1 day when they had a pool DJ on and that was great. I would highly recommend they do that more often as the most entertaining thing was the drunk person causing chaos round the pool. It took the poor bar staff about an hour to get him to leave but at no point did the other hotel staff help! Shout out to Nikos!!!! All in all, it was okay but, I wouldn’t return."
