"A Very Disappointing Start to Our Stay – Not What You Expect from a 5-Star Hotel We booked this hotel back in December and informed them well in advance that we would be travelling with an infant. We even paid extra for a higher room category and I personally called before arrival to confirm that a baby cot would be prepared for us. When we arrived, there was no cot in the room. At reception we were told it would be brought “right away.” After an hour, nothing had happened. We kept asking throughout the evening and received the same answer over and over again until midnight. Finally, we were told that the cot would not arrive that day and that it might be available the next morning. As parents of an infant, we had no choice but to improvise. I removed the mattresses from the high bed and placed them on the floor to prevent our baby from falling onto the hard tiles during the night. This is how we spent our first night in a supposedly 5-star hotel. I am attaching photos because they speak for themselves. What concerns me most is the complete lack of attention to child safety. We informed the hotel months in advance, reminded them before arrival, paid for an upgraded room, and still ended up sleeping on mattresses on the floor because the hotel failed to provide basic equipment for a baby. The problems did not stop there. Around 5 a.m., there were repeated power interruptions in our room. Each time the electricity returned, all the lights switched on automatically, waking us and our baby multiple times during the night. The following morning, we were once again told that the cot would arrive “soon.” At noon, we received exactly the same answer. At around 4 p.m., the receptionist spoke with the manager and then informed us that there would still be no cot that day and that maybe it would be available tomorrow. After more than 24 hours, the hotel still could not provide something that had been requested and confirmed long before our arrival. Additional issues we experienced: * Floor tiles covered with visible construction or renovation residue. * Extremely confusing electrical setup – to turn on lights in one part of the room, I have to use a switch located next to the bed. * Air conditioning switching on randomly by itself. * Around 30 minutes waiting time for a simple gyros at the bar. * Not enough sunbeds available for the number of guests using the pools. The most worrying part is that this is only the first day of a one-week stay. If the hotel cannot handle such a basic and previously confirmed request, it is difficult to have confidence that the rest of the holiday will be any better. Mistakes can happen in any hotel. What separates a true 5-star property from the rest is how problems are handled. So far, all we have received are repeated promises with no action. Based on our experience to date, this hotel falls far below the standard expected of a 5-star resort, especially for families travelling with young children."

"We stayed during May half term as a family of four. We normally go to similar concept 5 star resorts such as Sani or Marbella hotels but thought we would try this hotel as it looked nice & the price was ‘reasonable’. Having read a lot of the previous reviews i think in the main most of them are fair & accurate in pointing out the issues. In summary is the hotel currently operating as a 5 star hotel - no, does it have the potential - yes. The key issues we faced can all be fixed with time, better processes and more hands on management. A lot of the issues mentioned below shouldn’t spoil your holiday if you are relaxed, but at the same time you also wouldn’t expect or experience them at other 5 star hotels. Rooms: There is no doubt that the hotel has invested a lot of money and in the main the rooms/pool area/restaurants all look great. However, some of the landscaping still needs time to establish and we got the impression some of the rooms were rushed as overheard a few complaints about A/C not working. Our room had an issue with water escaping from the shower and covering the bathroom floor as it needed a better threshold to stop it. Annoying but fixed with a couple of towels on the floor. The biggest issue with rooms was that they clearly oversold the sea view rooms as like with others we also did not get one. They rectified this by giving us an upgrade to a larger suite and offered on the second day to move us into a sea view room (we decided to stick with the larger room). A lot of the swim up rooms had very small pools unless you were on the corner so I wouldn’t pay a premium for one of these and plenty of space by the main pools. Service: All of the restaurant/bar staff were friendly and worked hard. The front of desk staff helpfulness was mixed and depended on who you spoke to. They were often too quick to say something was not possible instead of a ‘let me see what we can do’ attitude. The issues seemed to be down to 1) lack of experience 2) not enough staff and 3) lack of visible management on the shop floor providing clear direction & empowerment. Most issues occurred during peak breakfast(9-10am)/lunch(12.30-1.30pm)/dinner(7-8pm) times that we quickly realised so just went 15mins earlier and wait for drinks was less than 5mins. Yes sometimes the poor bars were busy but you just wait on your sun lounger for the queue to die down and then go. It wasn’t a holiday spoiler and us brits love a queue anyway so i dont think it was as bad as some guests make out. We did see some improvement during the week so hopefully it’s getting better day by day. When we asked if we could go to the buffet early as we were leaving the reception staff said no, but then a manager overhead and intervened telling the staff member to call the F&B manager. They did and it was all ok. This experience probably sums up the service issues and what needs to be addressed. We would have left the hotel with a more negative outlook but actually we left on a positive note. Food/Restaurants: Other than initially there seemed to be tinned fruit at the buffet (but then fresh fruit started appearing more frequently) I couldn’t really fault the food. It was at a comparable level to other 5 star hotels. À la carte food was very good also, although again they were let down by the process of getting a table. We booked via the app the morning we arrived and only got availability on our last 3nts at 9pm. I think they clearly had a full hotel but with a lack of staff could only operate the à la carte restaurants at 50% capacity. We really enjoyed the Fusion and Italian restaurants but Smigo was not so great. Service at Smigo was slow and no kids options meant we had to take them to the buffet. I believe this is being addressed but the staff response to when we raised the lack of kids food wasn’t what it should be as they just told us to take them to the buffet. They also seemed to serve the same Meze portion sizes for our table of 4 vs a table for 2, meaning we had one Octopus tentacle to share between 4! Facilities: Both pools were great with plenty of sun loungers still by late morning. We played padel and tennis once during our stay. Would have liked to play more but the courts got booked up quickly so book early if want to play. We didn’t use the spa but did visit the gym and everything seemed nice enough. The beach was close to the pool area and had nice sunsets and a decent amount of sun loungers. There appeared to be a a bit of plastic waste washed up on the beach that isn’t the hotels fault but maybe they could clear some of it to make it more appealing? They had a few bars around the resort but the pool ones were the main for getting drinks during the day. They offered car hire from within the hotel that we took advantage of to visit nearby Agios Nikolaus - definitely recommend. So was it the best 5 star hotel we have stayed at, no probably not but we still had a great holiday. Would i stay here again, yes if the price was right and they have had more time to iron out some of the teething issues. To hotel management reading this, please empower your staff and be more visible around the hotel to prevent issues before they happen. Do this and im sure the review ratings will improve overnight."
