"On first impression, the hotel is wow. Spotlessly clean, amazing staff, peaceful and beautiful. The reception service is second to none and the majority of the catering team are fantastic. The food itself is ok but is occasionally bland. Lunches were more disappointing than other meals. There was plenty available at meal times. Snacks are limited in variety and options are lacking at the beach bar. It’s worth noting, there are no toilet facilities at the beach, and it’s a trek back up to the hotel (even with the fantastic lift). Unfortunately we saw several people relieving themselves behind bushes (or less inconspicuously in some cases). The beach is however, a stunning spot. Drinks-wise, the choice is great even though the cocktail menu is limited. Another review said that the waiting staff would not approach you to take drinks orders whilst you are by the pool, the they are around for you to grab their attention and request drinks. I believe they don’t wish you to disturb you by actively approaching for orders. We had to chase a couple of times to get the room cleaned as we chose to lie in, we also had to ask for additional coffee pods and water for the room. The room itself was great and had everything we needed, and we slept really well. Whilst we had a totally relaxing stay, the peace was totally shattered on day 4 by a large group booking that seemed to take over two thirds of the hotel. I have to say, this really put me off and made me think twice about revisiting in the future. It’s also worth noting that if you travel via coach transfer, the coach cannot travel up the hill to the hotel, so you are dropped at the bottom. This would be fine during the day as a concierge service is available, but we arrived really late and if you’re less physically able, it would be a challenge to get the cases up to reception. Overall, Meravia on paper is great, with a few tweaks and less rowdy group bookings, it could be perfect in reality."

"The hotel itself is beautiful, with several swimming pools, well-maintained grounds, breathtaking sea views, and a wonderful beach. The sea was crystal clear, and the food was delicious throughout our stay. These aspects made the vacation enjoyable. Unfortunately, the accommodation and service did not meet the standards of a 5-star hotel. We arrived with a large group and did not receive our room until after 5:00 PM because it was not ready. I was sharing a room with a female colleague, yet we were given a room with one double bed and a one shared blanket. The bed could not be separated into two beds because it had one mattress. This arrangement was very uncomfortable and inappropriate for two colleagues. The room itself was also very small. The biggest disappointment was housekeeping. Our room was never cleaned during the entire stay, even after I called reception and specifically requested cleaning. We were given only two small face towels and no bath towels, and we had to replace the towels ourselves. The bathroom was poorly designed, with a very small sink and virtually no space for toiletries or cosmetics. We had no choice but to place our personal items on top of the toilet tank. This is certainly not what I would expect from a 5-star hotel. Overall, the hotel grounds, pools, sea views, beach, and food were excellent. However, the room quality, housekeeping, and attention to guests were far below 5-star standards. Because of these issues, I cannot rate this as a true 5-star experience."
