"We made the best of a average holiday, very disappointed & absolutely not 5* The smell of sewage was terrible, outside of our room and around the entertainment area every day The pools were cold, children wearing wet suits around the pool, weather can’t be helped but disappointing to say the least that not much to do when the weather is so rubbish Toilets by the pools were downstairs and if children wet and slippy is an accident waiting to happen Overflowing bins by the pools, full of half eaten food and dirty nappies Food- average at best. If children like dry chicken nuggets your winning as they have the same every night Disappointing we were unable to book the taverna for the evening meal, ate there once at lunch and was the best meal all week but no 1 staff member on the bars, long queues for drinks and not branded alcohol. Cocktails very disappointing. Slush machines not working until mid day or late evenings Entertainment- fine for the children but same old same old for adults- terrible in the basement room with not enough space/seating. The team do clearly work hard but with not much else to do it’s a hard watch night after night Water in the rooms not refilled, snails everywhere in the garden with mud filled lawn We went to Queens one of the afternoons, food & facilities seemed much better Would not return and would not recommend"

"My partner, daughter and I stayed at TUI Blue Lagoon Princess from 28th May 2026, and unfortunately our experience did not live up to the 5-star rating advertised. To start with the positives, the hotel itself looks beautiful, the pools are excellent, there were always plenty of sunbeds available, and most of the staff working around the bars, restaurants and pool areas were fantastic. They were friendly, welcoming and even remembered my usual drink order, which was a lovely personal touch. However, there were several issues throughout our stay that significantly impacted our holiday. We arrived after a 5am flight, exhausted and ready to get settled into our room. At check-in, we were told the room was not yet ready and that we would receive a phone call once it became available. We were happy to wait and understood that these things happen. After waiting for three hours with no call, I went back to reception only to be told that the room had actually been ready for over an hour. No one had contacted us as promised. Once we got to the room, there was a noticeable unpleasant smell outside, which I initially assumed was temporary. Unfortunately, this smell remained throughout the entire holiday and seemed to get worse as the days went on. The room itself was also disappointing. Despite booking a suite, we were given two single beds pushed together and a small pull-out chair. As a family of three, this was far from ideal. The television offered virtually no English-language channels or options, making it unusable for us. One of the biggest issues throughout the holiday was a strong sewage smell around the children’s entertainment area. It was extremely unpleasant and noticeable every evening. It became so bad that many guests around us were openly commenting on it. We could only tolerate being there for a couple of hours before having to leave. Sadly, the smell never improved during our stay. Housekeeping was also inconsistent. Water in the minibar was never replenished, meaning we had to collect bottles ourselves from the bars. Dirty coffee mugs and spoons remained in the room for three to four days without being removed or replaced despite daily housekeeping visits. The food was another major disappointment. While the restaurant was clean and the staff worked hard, the buffet lacked variety. The children’s menu was virtually identical every day, and the adult options changed very little apart from different sauces. The grilled chicken was often tough, and if you didn’t want the buffet options, the alternative was usually the same pizza and chips available every evening. This is not what I would expect from a 5-star all-inclusive resort. We also experienced ongoing problems trying to book one of the hotel’s à la carte restaurants. After repeatedly being told to come back another day, we were eventually given a reservation. Then, just one hour before the booking, a note was delivered to our room informing us that it had been cancelled. After raising my concerns with management, I was personally assured that another reservation would be arranged for the following evening. Once again, my partner and I got dressed up and headed to the restaurant, only to be told upon arrival that the booking had been cancelled. This was incredibly frustrating and left us feeling completely let down. We ended up having to eat at the buffet yet again and spent the rest of the evening packing for our departure. Even the departure experience was poorly organised. The TUI representatives seemed unsure which coach we were supposed to be on and eventually told us they would simply put us on the next available coach to the airport. We had been waiting from 7:45am as instructed, but the coach did not arrive until around 8:30am. Overall, while the hotel has some strong points—particularly the pools, grounds, and the hardworking bar, restaurant and pool staff—the number of issues we experienced meant this was nowhere near the 5-star holiday we paid for and expected. The sewage smell, poor room arrangements, housekeeping inconsistencies, repetitive food, failed restaurant reservations, and lack of organisation from reception and TUI representatives all added up to a disappointing experience. For us, this hotel is closer to a 2-star or 3-star resort rather than a genuine 5-star property. The excellent staff outside of reception prevented this review from being even lower. Rating: 3.5/5"

"We have just got back from a week here and first off we all had a lovely time. We were 4 adults and 2 children (4 &7). We were super nervous as we had seen many bad reviews but on day 1 we realised we didnt need to worry. Food- I am a vegetarian and found i had a lot of choice. On the first night the kids picked from the children's buffet but after watching lots of unsupervised children picking their food themselves (picking things up putting down/coughing over things)we did feed the kids off the main buffet after. We ate at both the taverna and green and grill and the grill was our fave by far (to book these in we had to wait 45 minutes in a queue on our first day and there was very limited spaces left). The main resteraunt does get busy and loud. I actually burnt my mouth on some food because it was piping hot so not worries about cold food and we loved that the plates get cleared super fast! The kids loved the crepes and ice cream from the snack bar and it was a nice change from the normal pizza and chips offering. The tui team offer a reward card for healthy eating for kids which was such a good incentive and once full they get a reward on stage. Site- its so much bigger than we thought and immaculately clean. Yes there are staff driving golf buggies but we never saw them zooming and they were constantly grafting. The road to the beach is dead and not a worry. There is the main pool which has the splash pool and slides, this gets busy but has a great vibe. Later on in the week we switched to the plaza pool and it was much quieter and chill. Drinks- i am certain there is no alcohol in any of the drinks but on a positive we saw no rowdy drunks! The cups are tiny and they fill them with 90% ice. The kids loved the chocolate milk and cocktails. Entertainment- I would give an A* for effort from all the staff and they were lovely but it really was just okay. We would have loved the kids disco to be longer and the quiz storm longer too, it would have been great to award the winner with a certificate. The kids (and us) loved the Disney night. It was nice to see some adult options on the rota like sip and paint and hand scrub classes. Location- we did a 5k walk which got us down the beach, up to the supermarket and then back up the main road (which is super busy and I would say don't take kids down it) which has bakeries and a couple of shops on. We had a game of pool at the saloon crazy horse but that also overlooks the main road. Other than that there really isn't much else without a taxi out. We did hire a boat one day from albatross boat hire and went to the blue lagoon and floating tiki bar and this was a real highlight (75euro each way in the taxi and 170euro for boat hire including fuel). A few niggles- The entertainment on offer if you sit at the main reception in the evening was the same two singers for 5 of our 7 nights and they were lovely but it would have been nice for variation. I stood waiting for a drink at the pool bar one day and witnessed the staff having a heated argument, that was a mood killer. People smoking in the ampetheter was gross during the kids disco. We had ants in our room, the staff sorted it but we had to ask a few times before they dis. Staff turned up before we had left to put a cot in the room for the next people. On arrival it was busy so we were told to get food but with no instruction so we just wandered aimlessly. We were then checked into the wrong room. Our transfer back was 45 minutes late."
