"I have just returned home from staying at the Akti coast Club in Kos with a large family group of eight, including my two small children. From the moment we arrived, we were very impressed by how modern, clean, and fresh the entire property felt. It is truly a perfect hotel for families looking for a relaxing and hassle-free holiday and it’s only 20 minutes from the airport which is a bonus after a long day of travelling.
The check-in process was seamless, and we were shown to our rooms as soon as we arrived. The rooms themselves were spacious, very clean, and perfect for our needs. We messaged the hotel before arriving and requested a row of rooms together as there were 8 of us, we also requested rooms near the children’s pool and they gave us exactly what we requested which we were very grateful for. The room we had was a family room with shared swim up pool.
This meant we were in the rooms above the swim up pool with other rooms below us. Sadly we didn’t get to use the swim up pool as the families in the rooms below would get up super early and put their towels on the loungers on our side as the sun sits more on the one side of the pool leaving their side completely empty which meant we had no loungers, every room is allocated two sun loungers, but sadly two families below had taken up at least 8 which was allocated to us above.
I think that maybe the hotel should inform families on arrival who’s staying in rooms on lower floor of this as families staying in the above rooms could like us lose out on using the swim up pool.
Back to the subject of the rooms we were also relieved to find a travel cot already set up for my youngest on arrival, complete with fresh sheets. The beds were immaculate and super comfy!Housekeeping here is exceptional; the rooms were cleaned thoroughly every single day, with bins emptied and fresh towels provided. The cleaners work incredibly hard and deserve a lot of credit.
After reading some mixed reviews about the food before our trip, we were initially a bit hesitant, but we were completely blown away—the food and drinks were fantastic! There was so much choice, with food being cooked fresh right in front of you and constantly topped up when running low. The variety was excellent, including everything from pizza, pasta, noodles, and chicken nuggets for the kids, to fresh fish and meats. The desserts were also incredible! The drinks selection was equally impressive, and the adult options even included Prosecco and Baileys, which was a lovely touch. All the restaurant staff work super hard, one in particular stood out to us all whose name was Angela, always smiling and just so lovely.
The swimming pools were fantastic, with a great selection to choose from. There were always plenty of sun loungers available around the main pools so there was absolutely no need to panic in the mornings! My children especially loved the kids' play area pool. Just a quick tip for families: some of the pool floors are quite rough and resulted in a few cut toes which needed medical attention, so I would highly recommend bringing pool shoes. Also if you didn’t want to go to the restaurant for lunch you can grab food from the pool snack bar, which again, had an amazing amount of choice including chicken gyros! Pool staff and the life guards are brilliant. Again we would like to mention one lady in particular who made us smile every day around the pool. Mihalitsa who works on the bottom pool bar. What a lovely lady, always smiling and making a fuss. Definitely deserves praise.
The entertainment at the hotel is very good and kept everyone amused. The team puts on all sorts of activities like karaoke, bingo, kids' discos, football, and lots of pool games. Much like the rest of the staff, the entertainment team works incredibly hard to keep everyone happy.
If you want to explore outside the resort, turning right out of the hotel takes you on a pleasant 15-minute walk to Marmari, which has some lovely little bars and shops. Directly opposite the hotel is the most beautiful beach with the most amazing view. The sunsets are out of this world and definitely worth watching. Something you can never get bored of.
We also took the bus to Kos Town, which takes about 20 to 25 minutes. You can catch it right outside the hotel and it runs regularly. Kos Town is absolutely beautiful with its lovely bars, restaurants, and a stunning harbor full of boats where you can book lots of different trips, it is definitely worth the visit!
A quick warning for families regarding the bus: It gets incredibly busy first thing in the morning. Also, don't expect other people to wait politely in a queue to get on. We were very often the first ones waiting, but would end up being the last ones to board because people would push right in front.
Overall, we had a wonderful holiday at Akti coast Club and would highly recommend it to any family looking for a clean, relaxing, and welcoming place to stay in Kos! Thankyou to all the staff at this hotel who deserves a lot of credit for their hard work keeping such a lovely hotel!"
