"We have just returned from a week-long stay at this hotel. While there were some positives, unfortunately the negatives outweighed them.
The location is undoubtedly the hotel's strongest feature. It overlooks a beautiful cove with breathtaking views and a truly picturesque setting. Our room was lovely – a Junior Suite with a sea view – and we were pleasantly surprised to be allocated one of the rooms with a hot tub on the terrace.
However, our experience with the hotel management was disappointing. The manager was unhelpful and seemed unwilling to accommodate reasonable requests. As we were staying on a half-board basis, we asked on two occasions whether one of our evening meals could be exchanged for lunch. We were initially told that 24 hours' notice was required, which we duly provided, only to then be informed that it could not be arranged after all. The rules appeared unnecessarily rigid, with little flexibility shown towards guests.
The buffet dinner was also disappointing. There was very little variety, with many of the same dishes being served each evening and a noticeable lack of vegetables. On one occasion, we returned from an excursion at 9:45pm and found staff already clearing away the buffet, despite being informed on arrival that dinner service continued until 10:30pm. There was hardly any choice for the children, please see photo attached, they lived on chicken nuggets all week.
Breakfast was equally underwhelming, offering the same basic selection every day. Given the amount we paid for a half-board stay, we expected a much higher standard, greater variety, and better overall quality.
The room amenities were lacking. Only two coffee pods were provided for the entire week and just one bottle of water for the duration of our stay. When we requested additional coffee pods, we were informed there would be a charge of €2 per pod, which seemed unreasonable considering the price of the holiday. The wine and drinks were also overpriced – around €40 for an average bottle of wine – whereas the local supermarket offered much better value.
I would also advise guests to check their bills carefully. On several occasions, we were charged for items we had not ordered, and there were errors in the totals. Always review your bill before paying.
The beds and pillows were extremely firm and uncomfortable. The sofa beds in the middle room, where our children slept, were particularly uncomfortable. When we requested additional bedding, we were provided with very stiff sheets that felt more like curtain material than bed linen. The pool area is pleasant, but families with young children should be aware that the pool is quite deep and children need to be supervised at all times. There was a lifeguard on duty, which was reassuring.
It is also worth noting that the hotel is located at the bottom of a very steep hill, which may be challenging for some guests. However, the hotel does provide a shuttle service to take guests up to meet the transfer bus, which was appreciated.
One of the highlights of our holiday was the boat trip to Paxos and Antipaxos, which was absolutely incredible. The scenery was breathtaking, the water was crystal clear, and visiting both islands was a memorable experience. We would highly recommend this excursion to anyone staying in the area, as it was one of the best parts of our holiday.
Another highlight of our holiday was visiting Parga. The town is absolutely stunning, with its colourful waterfront, charming streets, excellent restaurants, and beautiful views across the bay. It has a lovely atmosphere both during the day and in the evening and was one of our favourite parts of the trip.
Some members of staff were lovely, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay, while others were noticeably less welcoming and accommodating, leading to an inconsistent guest experience.
Overall, although the hotel benefits from a stunning location, beautiful views, and some excellent staff members, it lacks the quality, service, flexibility, and attention to detail that we would expect from a five-star hotel. Given the price we paid, we left feeling disappointed and felt that the hotel did not live up to its rating or represent good value for money."
