On The Rocks Hotel

"We had fond memories of this hotel having stayed there 15 years ago. However the hotel has apparently changed hands a number of times since then and unfortunately we were left extremely disappointed. We stayed in room 7 and while the bed was comfortable, the room was extremely cramped with two adults and just one suitcase. Bathroom-wise the sink had come apart from its mounting and the main flush on the toilet was broken. The shower head leaked and had started a small flood down to the bedroom before we noticed and took action with a face cloth. We had to switch on a timer when we wanted hot water meaning no showers first thing in the morning There was no WiFi signal in the room, the private terrace or at the pool bar. One of the loungers on the terrace was heavily stained. Breakfast had to be preordered for a specific time each day and all of the three options were basic. We asked for a refill of tea on the second day and were told that would incur an extra charge. The staff were friendly, especially on check in, but there was a lack of training or oversight - for example towels were not replaced consistently and a staff member took cigarette breaks at the entrance. Perhaps we got unlucky with the room and the views were admittedly stunning but our experience was not at all what we usually get from the Small Luxury Hotel brand."

"Please make sure to lock up your valuables, including clothing, when you stay at this hotel. I had several pieces of my clothing stolen from my suitcase in our room at this hotel during our stay. I reported it to the front desk the day we departed and they said they could not find my items. I even contacted management who told me the same thing and we got no help to try to get to the bottom of this. They need to have a more secure system in place so this does not happen to guests. It's such ashame because the hotel views are stunning and we enjoyed our stay until this happened. They stole several of my favorite shirts and other items, which was so upsetting. We will not return to this hotel for a stay again."

"We stayed our last night in Santorini at On The Rocks. The room had a loft bedroom with a window view of the Aegean Sea. The cave pool was fun, and Linda had a facial that she described as the best she’s ever had. The staff was fantastic and accommodating. We had a 3:30 ferry to Crete and they allowed a late checkout and arranged for a taxi to the port. Expect to climb stairs and hills when visiting. Beautiful views and very relaxing."
