Hotel Vellir

"My husband and I just returned from Hotel Vellir and we had a wonderful stay. The hotel is simple, but clean, and well-maintained, and the rooms had blackout curtains. It is located very conveniently next to a Bonus grocery store and a public indoor swimming pool, and the bus-stop that takes you all the way to downtown Reykjavik (with a stop at BSI) is just behind the hotel. There was also a gym with hot tub and sauna that hotel guests could use right beside the hotel. And there's ample parking. The breakfast was decent, although we were disappointed that scrambled eggs and bacon were only available on the weekend. We loved the staff at the front desk, Anna and Katerina. They were very helpful and kind and generous with their knowledge of Iceland. (By the way, there is also a slightly grumpy guy with a shaved head at the front desk. He has a bit of a Bond villain energy and I'm convinced he has a secret lair for bumbling and misbehaving guests so rehearse all your questions before approaching.) Altogether, wonderful stay and we highly recommend if you don't mind staying outside Reykjavik!"

"Hotel Vellir was a convenient and comfortable place to stay during our trip. Its location made it easy to travel to both Reykjavík and Keflavík, which was ideal for our plans. The rooms were spacious and well‑maintained, providing plenty of comfort after long days of exploring. Breakfast was included and absolutely delicious, offering a great start to each morning. Overall, Hotel Vellir provided an excellent experience and met all of our needs."

"Our flight was cancelled and we weren't able to get another flight to the UK for 3 days so EasyJet put us up here. Staff were so lovely and breakfasts, room and gym amenities (with hot tub and sauna!) were very much appreciated."
