"I stayed at the hotel for a week. After reading their defensive response to every single negative review posted, I’m am certain this one will get the same faith. But I am hoping it will help someone not book.
Be incredibly mindful when booking as there is an incredible amount of noise from the outside of the hotel. I cannot explain to you the screaming, hollering, yelling, singing that goes on through the night until about 5-6am, especially on Friday, Saturday and for me Sunday due to Monday being a public holiday. It was truly impossible to sleep at all.
I tried earplugs, music and noise cancelling earphones. Nothing helped.
So in the end I slept on the bathroom floor next to the toilet (see photos) 2-3 hours per night Friday; Saturday and Sunday night.
The bathroom is made out of thick glass and the noise is dampened significantly. Which also means they do not hotel, who know about this issue as I spoke to two peole on duty about it, could do something about it.
Instead they are choosing the response of: ‘We are sorry for the inconvenience, but we have now ability to influence outside noise.’
No, you don’t. But you well and truly have the ability to influence how insulated your rooms are.
There are plenty of good hotels close by that would not have that problem.
Basically I paid $250/night on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and to in the end be seriously sleep deprived and get what I can of sleep on the cold floor of a bathroom next to the toilet. And the hotel is sorry about the inconvenience.
I had booked through Expedia, who contacted the hotel as I requested 50% refund for the 3 nights I had no sleep and they basically were told the same - not the hotel’s problem.
Full disclosure; Expedia did give in 275 Expedia points. Which I think translates to the same amount in $, but am not sure.
Hotel took no responsibility at all. I was told to speak to Management when I approached them and when Expedia approached them. Again, there is no Management present on a Sunday nor Monday public holiday (and I’m checking out anyway at 0300am today to get to my flight). Given this started on Friday night and I didn’t say anything until the second night in a row, there was no ability for me to speak to Management.
Overall incredibly poor feedback management process. I would be mortified if my team would manage feedback this way.
So Expedia is saying hotel’s problem and choice regarding refund. Hotel is saying not their problem as noise is from outside. So the only person with the problem is me, retiring this review at 02:08am from my bathroom bed. Hey, as least the toilet is close by!"
