Costa Citara Hotel

"Booked for a week and did not know much about Ischia beforehand but what a gem! It is a wonderful island with loads to see and a charming authentic feel not spoilt by mass tourism. The Hotel Citara was just perfect for us- family run, not too big or corporate, good value, clean and in a good location. Mini market and a few restaurants close by and easy access to Foria. Poseidon thermal spa and beach within walking distance. The room was spacious and was cleaned every day. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice and the outdoor pool was a delightful area to relax and chat to other guests who were all lovely people. There was no silliness of putting towels on sun beds early morning which was a pleasant change and there is a lovely chilled atmosphere. The outdoor pool area is much nicer than the photographs suggest and the smell from the beautiful plants is just delightful. The hotel runs a shuttle bus and the public bus stop is just outside the hotel making sight seeing across the island really easy. Staff were all lovely and since our luggage was delayed they helped us with some calls and translation which was much appreciated. Gennaro is a real asset and always available to give advice on places to visit. We had an early morning flight on departure and the breakfast pic nic was most welcome and unexpected. The hotel and island surpassed our expectations and we hope to return.Thanks to all the hotel team- you do a great job!"

"Having stayed in panda before we decided to book something further down the hill on the bus route. And after much research I online and tripadvisor I decided on this hotel. As soon as I had booked the costa citara hotel I contacted them with a few questions,which they immediately answered in perfect English and gave us the information we needed. I stayed in correspondence with them before our stay. On arrival we we escorted to our room Exactly what we hd talked about, a high room to make the most of the view. Wow!!! Room was of a generous size with huge opening doors onto a spacious balcony. With electric blackout shutters. Plenty of wardrobe space and storage(important to us as we were there for 2 weeks with 2 23kg cases)and good space to store cases above. Bed and pillows were excellent and quality cotton linen. Bathroom was spacious with bidet and a walk in shower with fierce pressure and always an abundance of hot water. Breakfast was taken in a bright airy lounge abs was self service with all fresh food and good coffee. All this was made really special by the wonderful Gennaro and Antonella who honestly we took to our hearts. Very kind warm people who made us feel so warm with thier presence,Gennaro as such a great charector. The pool area is amazing. Spotlessly cleaned every morning before we were up. An abundance of comfortable beds and quality umberellas adorned its surroundings. There was a heated indoor spa area. The outdoor pool was heated and had a fantastic seating area around some of the shallow inner area's,perfect for sitting and chatting. Full bar/snack service was available around the pool. All in all we enjoyed this hotel more than last years which was also very good. But this year there was something just a little different,maybe a connection that just felt more personal. [A note to the management] Dont change a thing,you have it right. Genuine kindness always shines through. And Gennaro and Anotella are 2 extremely kind and thier warm friendly nature's are an asset."

"Hotel was a perfect base for a solo getaway. Accessible to beaches, restaurants and the little town of Forio. The outdoor pool is clean and the front courtyard feels “typically Italian”. I did not take the evening meal, but the breakfast is largely continental (only hot food was eggs) - which is perfect for a relaxing stay. Overall if you are looking for a “quintessential Italian” stay- it’s an absolutely lovey hotel. I’d 100% stay again."
