Club Esse Cala Gonone Beach Village

"Everything about our experience at Cala Gonone Beach Village sucked. It looks good in the pictures, but everything is poorly maintained and broken. The bed beds were hard and you can feel the springs through the mattress. You can hear every neighbor throughout the walls. Our air conditioning was broken and beeped constantly through the night, it took them two days to fix it despite multiple complaints. The food is all pre-made meals and they cant even be bothered to heat it properly. The pool is pretty, but bland and cold with too much chlorine. All in all a terrible experience."

"We stayed here for 9 days in mid-September as part of a dance group of nearly 100 people. The hotel was okay at best with several negatives, and we would not recommend it, and will not return. It is quite a large resort and some of paths are fairly steep. The buildings and grounds were kept clean, which they needed to be, as there where ants around. We even had a few in our room. One exception I found were the toilets by the bar during the daytime, which by mid-afternoon had wet and dirty floors, and the waste bin was over flowing. There is no luggage room for use if you arrive early or depart late. Luggage is just put against walls in the reception. The hotel claim WiFi is available in public areas, this is not true. It can only be received in reception, and can not be accessed in the bar, restaurant or around the pool. The restaurant was more like a factory canteen, and it was chaos every evening with too many people in the buffet area trying to get food. This was not helped by several guests who didn’t believe in queuing, and just pushed in or walked in front of you without looking. Breakfast was the same every day and boring, with the only hot food being scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages. I use the word hot lightly, because it was often only luke warm. Dinner was okay but not great, and again some items where cool. Beer, wine and water where included with the evening meal, and we found the white wine to be nice. There was not enough staff at breakfast which meant tables where not cleared, and some items in the buffet where only replaced slowly if at all. More staff where around for the evening meal. We were in room 133 which was a good size as was the bathroom. It was cleaned every day, and towels were replaced as required. We had a nice view of the sea and the mountains from the balcony. Talking to some of the others in our group, it appears we were lucky with this room, as they had problems, and a few even moved to another room. Every afternoon at 4pm there is music and activities around the pool which lasts for 2 hours or so. This is much too loud, and despite several complaints, nothing was done about this. The singer in the bar in the evening is also too loud, and was not a very good singer anyway. One of the main problems during our stay was a group of around 30 eastern Europeans. These were mostly men in their 20’s or 30’s who seemed to drink all day and make a lot of noise. They spoilt the afternoon hotel activities, and one night we had to close down our dancing early because some of them tried to gate crash what was a private event. The hotel did not seem have any security to deal with things like this."

"Very poor musty smelling rooms we moved which didn't help. Very poor food choice with limited time to eat it. They rushed you out bang on 9pm put food away 8.40pm. We had 60 Romainian police at the resort. Their disgusting behaviour was left unchecked. Ruin the swimming pool night and tried to break in a private dance event but nothing was done. The beach pebbles with biting fish. Two stars as regular shuttle train was nice and always had sunbeds had a big pool. As you expect of 2 star no kettle or coffee making facilties. No English TV channel not 1 out of 68 channels. Recommend trip Cala Luna boat trip. Proper sand beach"
