Hotel Olimpo Le Terrazze

"I read some mixed reviews about this hotel and was a bit hesitant with booking. However it seems that the bad reviews were from people expecting luxury service catering all their needs. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, on top of a small seaside village which is not a tourist hotspot (unlike Taormina). We were very glad not to have booked a hotel in Taormina, since it is super overpriced and packed with tourists, unlike Letojanni, where we mostly saw locals. We stayed from late May to early June and the hotel saw a significant shift during this period. The last week of May was pretty quiet and not crowded, and a loooot of people came at the start of June: after this, the pool got very crowded and loud (not relaxing anymore). I read some bad comments about the staff, however they were all friendly and attentive. All in all, this was definitely among the best hotels I've ever stayed at. The room was so beautiful with a gorgeous balcony, where we gazed at the sun and the mountains. The food options varied every day, and we had access to beach chairs by the ocean (which is rocky). Would recommend, more so in May than in June."

"I have just got back from a weeks stay here through EasyJet holidays. Pro’s: The views surrounding the hotel are outstanding. Honestly breathtaking. The amazing views surround the entire hotel. The pool is a great size and really refreshing. Not freezing cold but the right amount of cold to keep you cool. In May there has been enough beds, wasn’t any fighting for a bed. Animation staff were super friendly. The reviews stating they avoid English people couldn’t be further from the truth. They were constantly trying to get us involved. The beach connection to the hotel is good. Reception give you a ticket for the beach club down the road. You get free beds and a parasol. Cons: The drop off is at the bottom of the hotel. To get to the main hotel is an absolute trek and a right pain. Multiple lifts, hills with a tunnel to go through. Took 15 minutes just to get from main hotel to the bottom. Food was very meh. Wasn’t anything special. Very samey. Every day was always the same. Got very boring and the food wasn’t overly great. The “all inclusive” this honestly was a joke. In May there are no snacks included like crisps, burgers or hotdogs etc. The only snacks weee toasted sandwiches, cake or ice cream. Only beer, wine or prosecco is available booze wise during the day. No cocktails or spirits at all. The only sprirts available after 6 were house vodka, Bacardi and gin. Limoncello spritz or aperol spritz that’s it. You could only have that at 6pm though. You can’t fill bottles up with the water either. Never known an all inclusive like it. The room. Although spacious it was very dated. Old decor and not amazingly clean. The beds were awful to sleep on and pillow was lumpy. Apart from the hotel itself. Sicily was amazing. The bus stop at the bottom of the hotel takes you to toaromina for 1 euro 90. Do not get Ubers anywhere as it will cost you a fortune."

"This hotel was exactly what we were looking for. We arrived late at night (about 1.30am) after our flight was delayed and the hotel had left us food such a salad, bread, cheese etc in case we were hungry. The rooms were very clean and the maid came each day with fresh towels and made the beds. The food was good, although a little repetitive, but the staff are attentive. There is a lovely young waitress with short hair and a purple apron (can’t remember her name) but she looked after us daily and was very polite. The AI drinks are worth it, Prosecco and Moretti beer was part of our package. The entertainment team of two girls were great. Very friendly and good fun. From the hotel you can walk into the small town of Letojanni which has a few beach side restaurants. The beach is stoney and we didn’t spend much time there. You can also catch the bus to Isola Bella which is a lovely place to visit as well as the beautiful town of Taormina. This is about 10 mins away and cost us €30 each way in a taxi the first time we went. The bus is about €2 each, so much more economical. It’s absolutely beautiful there, stunning restaurants, bars and designer shops- well worth a visit, even to just sit and people watch. The only other thing to mention about the hotel is that there are a lot of steps as it is on a cliff. There are plenty of lifts if the steps are a problem though. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit somewhere beautiful!"
