Hotel Rivage Taormina

"We stayed here for 5 nights for a part of our honeymoon and we had such a lovely time. Tina was so welcoming on our arrival and explained that as we were early (midday), our room was not yet ready as check in isn’t usually until 3pm but offered us complimentary drinks and said they’d do their best to have our room ready asap. Our room was really light and spacious, so clean and smelt amazing and we had a lovely balcony which looked out onto the beach (we paid extra for a sea view room). There was a lovely spread each morning for breakfast with anything you could imagine on offer and the waitresses were always so friendly and helpful. Mazzeo/Letojanni is such a lovely place on the outskirts of busy Taormina (we had a great view of Taormina from our balcony) with loads of lovely beach bars/restaurants. If you wanted to go to Taormina there’s a bus every hour which only takes 10-15mins and is only €2pp each way. There was a lot of building works/reno works going on in Mazzeo/Letojanni when we were there (we understand there was a hurricane in the winter which must’ve caused some damage), so I imagine in a month or so time there’ll be even more choice of places to go - the beach bar of the hotel was one of the places which looked like it was being rebuilt so wasn’t yet open. The only slight downside we found to the hotel was that it was a bit noisy at nighttimes when people were coming/going to their rooms as the floors are all tiled, the closing of doors echoed right through the building, and the shower was sometimes a bit temperamental. But that aside, we had really relaxing time staying at Hotel Rivage and would absolutely recommend to anyone wanting to visit the Taormina/Mt Etna area of Sicily without being right in the middle of the hustle and bustle!"

"This hotel is in Letojanni, just a short walk from lots of different restaurants, ranging from budget to mid range and more high end restaurants. It is a boutique hotel just opposite the beach. It is clean and modern. If you are looking for a hotel with a nice view this is not it. You can get a bus closeby to different attractions, but have to plan carefully as the buses only come hourly. The breakfast was good with croissants, cakes, eggs and other pastries. Elizabetta was very welcoming. Sadly what really let us down is that we were given a welcome orange juice drink on our arrival (that we had not asked for) and had found out on checkout that this was charged for 30 euros! We were given the drink without even asking and then charged a ridiculous amount. It was upsetting as it was given on the impression that it was complimentary as most places do on arrival but then charged."

"Very nice hotel with great service and lovely staff. Beach club and pool facilities are seasonal and are being re-built so make sure you are aware of this before booking. It’s not advertised on all sites. Unfortunately we were unaware of this as it was not on the Easy Jet site and it was the beach club we wanted most from this holiday break. This area has been hit very badly by a storm in January destroying most of the beach facilities, some roads and buildings but the locals are working extremely hard to get everything up and running again for the season opening."
