Postillion Hotel Amsterdam

"Lovely staff. Well-meaning. Kind. Helpful. The rest is very disappointing. Broadband is the slowest I have experienced in the Netherlands. For a business-oriented hotel, the internet-speed is completely unacceptable. Food is very disappointing. Had a fish curry the first night (mistake #1). Served with cold potatoes (?) and meagre flecks of fish with hardly any sauce nor taste of curry. Sent it back and complained. To the manager's credit, he didn't charge me for it. I ordered a chicken burger instead . (Mistake #2 ). The chicken appeared to be 'bought-in' with more breadcrumbs than chicken. A thin white strip of processed chicken compressed in the aforementioned breadcrumbs. Wasn't very nice. This came with two pieces of lettuce which looked like they'd rather be anywhere else than on the plate next to that chicken. Coating the chicken was some bland barbecue sauce. All of this was served on two fast disintegrating pieces of brioche which fell apart in my hands the more I tried to eat. The fries were nice though I wish there were more of them. The conference food was equally dismal. I was told that it was a 'vegan' venue. Almost no protein in anything. No chicken, beef, pork, cheese. Just the smallest amount of salmon that you could ever expect to see in a large dish of pasta. That was it. The rest was green beans in a sauce, some meagre soya pieces in some other sauce. Well that's great for vegans but I am not a vegan though I respect their choice. As a business guest at a professional conference, I would like to be able to make my own choice too. I complained that as an adult, protein is something we all need to eat. Do I need to point this out to a hospitality business??? Several of my colleagues pointed said the same thing to me. Where's the protein? Some 'organic' baked oat bars and fruit for afterwards. Low-average coffee. Only poor-tasting powered coffee in sachets in the hotel bedrooms. We were hungry in the morning and hungry again in the afternoon. Very disappointing. My advice to this hotel is to serve quality food to paying business guests... or they'll take their business elsewhere."

"Booked a comfort room with spa access. On the website, it was always advertised as being “hotel with spa access”, so big was our surprise when it turned out the spa was an hour away from the hotel?! Yes the name of the spa was mentioned on the webpage but I think it’s safe to assume that if you’re offered a hotel room “with spa access” then it means the spa is on premise??"
