The Editory By the Sea Lagos

"We had had a very good experience during our seven night stay at the Editory by the Sea Hotel in Lagos! We had a standard double sea view room on the fifth floor, which offered plenty of room for two people. It was well appointed and had a beautiful balcony which offered a very good view of the sea 600 metres away, as well as the surrounding neighbourhood. The room was very clean in all respects, tended to (cleaned, bed made and mini fridge replenished) by room service staff daily and the king size bed was very comfortable. It was always very quiet (actually silent) each night in our room, which we very much appreciated after long days of touring! Our package included a daily buffet breakfast, which offered a vast variety of food choices, all of which we found to be quite good. We ate in the Coral restaurant one evening and enjoyed a very good meal, which consisted of seafood cataplana and sea bass entrees. It was all delicious and accompanied by some very good wine. Service was also very good. The hotel’s location is very convenient. If you choose, you can walk to the sea, boardwalk, downtown or other attractions, or take a taxi or ride sharing service at a very reasonable price. Our interaction with all of the hotel staff was very positive, especially with Daniela at the front desk, who went out of her way to make sure that we were getting the best out of our stay experience! She quickly got us oriented with the hotel and provided us with detailed directions for the Lagos area when we asked for them. Daniela is definitely an outstanding employee and deserves recognition for that! Overall our stay was a very pleasant experience and we would not hesitate to return to the Editory by the Sea Lagos and recommend it to family and friends."

"The hotel has a modern design, great outdoor spaces, and a good location, but the service was far below what is expected from a 5-star hotel. Our bathroom flooded during the first shower due to poor drainage, with water almost reaching the bed. Although the cleaning staff handled the situation well, management showed little concern and provided no proper follow-up. Even after the repair, the bathroom continued to flood slightly after every shower. Other issues included misleading “free parking” advertising (very limited spaces unless paying €15/day), slow housekeeping, poor pool bar service, lack of cleanliness around the pool area, and an AC system that did not work properly. Overall, the hotel has potential, but the service and maintenance seriously affected our stay."

"We had a lovely experience in the hotel. I was so pleased to see my requests i made prior to booking like leaving a nice letter card, and a bottle in the room as it was my partners birthday. They exceeded my expectations with including complementary cake as well. The reception staff were amazing, kind and polite as well as the pool bartenders. Breakfast was fantastic, the hotel is quiet which allowed us to rest with a peace of mind. Room was big, modern, balcony view was exceptional, room service and Housekeeping team were top notch. We decided to come back again next year. Also big thanks to Patricia who delivered an exceptional massage. I appreciate all of the recommendations she gave me during our session. Big thanks to the ladies in the reception as well, keep up the positive work! Thank you for the lovely portuguese experience. 🇵🇹"
